  6. Youth worker 'shocked' by teenager's death

    A youth worker who knew a teenage boy stabbed to death in London has said he is "shocked" by what has happened.

    Jayden Moodie, 14, was found wounded in Bickley Road, Waltham Forest, at 18:30 yesterday.

    It is understood that Jayden had recently moved to the capital from Nottingham.

    Marcellus Baz, from Nottingham charity Switch Up, met Jayden in Basford while encouraging young people to get involved in positive activities and educating them about knife crime.

    Mr Baz, who won the 2016 BBC Sports Unsung Hero Award, said: "You look at a kid and think ’he’s got his life sorted, here’s one that’s going to be all right,' and then that happens.

    "It’s absolutely shocking and my heart goes out to his family, to his friends and to people who knew him."

  7. Attempted murder charge after gun fired

    A 21-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a gun was fired in a Derbyshire village.

    Dianvelli Williams, of Leeds, has also been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition in connection with the "firearms discharge" in Bassett Hill, Upper Langwith, on 2 October.

    He is due before Chesterfield Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

    Jordan Murray, 25, of Bestwood Park, has previously been charged with attempted murder in connection with the same incident as well as a shooting outside a Nottingham bar.

    Tarquin James, 28, of Woodthorpe and Nathaniel Skerritt, 31, of Sherwood are both accused of attempted murder, and possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition in connection with the Fletcher Gate incident in November.

    Mr Skerritt is also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition in connection with a warrant at a property in Sherwood on 8 November.

  8. Image released in shopping centre arson investigation

    Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to after the suspected arson at Belgrave Commerical Centre.

    More than 60 firefighters tackled the blaze at the shopping precinct in Belgrave Road, Leicester, which started at 22:00 on Sunday.

    Parts of the building have been demolished as a result of the fire.

    Leicestershire Police believe the fire was "started deliberately" and are investigating.
