The plants were found in four rooms across three floors in two separate flats in the property.

    Police note-taking

Nottinghamshire Police said no-one was found inside the house but enquiries were ongoing.

  5. Social care boss apologises for 'rushed' benefit cuts

    Kit Sandeman

    Local Democracy Reporter

The head of social care in Nottinghamshire has apologised "if we got it wrong" on a decision to increase the amount of money people with a disability in Nottinghamshire pay towards their care.

The decision relates to how much of people's disability benefits they are allowed to keep for themselves, before it is taken from them to contribute towards their own care.

More than 800 severely disabled people in the county were given just days notice that the amount they pay would be increasing, in some cases from nothing to £56 a week.

The move by the Conservative-led county council has been described as 'organised cruelty' by opposition councillors.

    County Hall

Speaking at a heated and emotional summit of carers, industry leaders and people with learning disabilities, Stuart Wallace said: "What has happened, and we probably got this wrong, we might have rushed it through and I hold my hands up to that.

"As the chairman it's my fault, it happened on my watch and we may have gone a little bit too quick, but everyone has been assessed whether or not they need to make some sort of contribution.

"4,000 people, out of the 7,000 people we provide care for will not be paying anything, they weren't before and they won't be paying now."

He said a decision would be made next month on whether to delay the rollout of benefit cuts until February.

  10. Board calls for HS2 honesty

    Eddie Bisknell

    Local Democracy Reporter

A board led by the leader of Nottingham City Council and the deputy leader of Derbyshire County Council has demanded more honesty from HS2.

A draft response from the East Midlands HS2 Mitigation Board was discussed during a meeting at County Hall in Matlock.

It sets out the key concerns about the proposed multi-billion pound high-speed rail route through the region.

    HS2 route through Derbyshire

Members of the board stated that the ongoing HS2 consultation for Phase 2b of the route, which stretches through Erewash to Toton, is based on "limited, inaccurate and poorly evidenced information".

The board said it felt where different options are proposed along the route, HS2 has chosen the cheapest options rather than those which could lessen the impact of the project.

It feels that the project would have one of the highest levels of impact on Long Eaton, where a 23-metre high viaduct is proposed, along with the demolition of more than 50 businesses and 183 houses.
