Two ram-raiders who smashed their way into shops across East Anglia and stole cash machines containing almost £300,000 in total have been jailed.

They were caught after police disturbed a burglary in progress at a Co-op store in Cambridgeshire in April.

  18. Deer rescued after getting trapped at church

    Gavin Bevis

    BBC News

This adorable small deer needed to be rescued by the RSPCA after being found trapped at a church in Nottingham earlier.

The charity said the muntjac - Britain's smallest deer species - was cut free from wire netting in the grounds of St Nicholas Church in Maid Marian Way.

A spokeswoman said: "Using bolt croppers the inspector was able to free the deer. Then using a net he managed to safely get it into a kennel and into his van. The rescue took about 20 minutes.

“The RSPCA has a licence to return the non-native animal back into the wild and we are pleased to say the deer was taken to a suitable place in Nottinghamshire by the inspector this afternoon where it was released.”
