    This evening will remain dry but cloudy which will gradually increase overnight with little rain.

    It will be a warm night with lows of 13C (55F).

    The start to the weekend will be breezy with some clouds and drizzle but it will be drier in the afternoon with some sunny spells.

    It will begin to feel warm with temperatures reaching highs of 21 C (70 F) on Saturday.

    Sunday will be brighter with some rain but Monday and Tuesday will be dry with sunny spells and some light winds.

  3. Two cannabis farms discovered

    A 54-year-old man has been arrested after cannabis plants - worth over £300,000 - were found in Mansfield.

    Officers uncovered the first group, which has an estimated worth of up to £250,000, in Hermitage Lane, last week.

    The second was found in Wellow Close yesterday, worth up to £65,000, and the arrest was made at the scene.

    The man, from Mansfield, has been bailed.

  4. Travel: M42 crash

  5. Officers release man in connection with Co-op robbery

    A 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm has been released pending further investigations.

    He was arrested in connection with the robbery at the Co-op in Market Street, Ashby-de-la-Zouch last night.

    A gang of men threatened staff and demanded cash.

    A member of the public managed to stop a 30-year-old old man on the street before he was arrested in connection with the robbery.

    When he was arrested he was taken ill and remains in Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.

    Some of the suspects made off in a vehicle which was waiting outside, Leicestershire Police said.

  6. Man stabbed drinking partner six times

    A man who stabbed another man six times in the chest and head after an argument has been jailed for 11 years, Nottinghamshire police said.

    Attilla Luzsanyi, 54, formerly of Player Street, in Radford, Nottingham, had been drinking with two other men when he fell out with one of them.

    He repeatedly stabbed his victim with a kitchen knife.

    The victim made a full recovery after he was taken to hospital.

    Luzsanyi denied wounding with intent earlier this month but was convicted following a five-day trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

    He was sentenced yesterday to 11 years in prison and was given a four year extended license period after release.

    In 2015, Polly's friend, Ian Massey from Enderby, died after he was knocked down by an elderly driver who was driving the wrong way up a dual carriageway in the A5 in Leicestershire.

    In the wake of Ian's death, Polly, who is 75 years old, has decided to voluntarily take a driving assessment which will determine how safe she is on the road and whether she can continue driving.

    If she fails, Polly will lose her independence as she says her inability to drive will leave her trapped in her house.

  10. Man charged with attempted rape

    A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted rape after a woman reported she'd been attacked on her way home from work in Nottingham.

    The 22-year-old managed to fight off a man after he allegedly assaulted her in Waverley Street at the junction with Raleigh Street in the early hours of Saturday.

    He was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates this afternoon.

  11. Blower's bus tribute

    Howzat for an honour? Cricket commentating legend Henry Blofeld has had a bus named after him on the first day of England's Test match against South Africa.

    And not just any bus - it's the first of Nottingham City Transport's gas powered fleet.

    Kept a secret from Henry, the presentation took place at Trent Bridge to coincide with his last Test Match Special commentary from the ground

    Henry, who's retiring later this year after 45 years, always mentions the colourful buses passing Trent Bridge when he's commentating in Nottingham.

    Rob Hicklin, from NCT, said: “Over the years, Henry has mentioned Nottingham City Transport’s buses going past the ground hundreds of times and we thought it would be a fitting gesture and tribute to thank him for that by naming one of our brand new gas buses after him."

  12. Ashby Co-op robbery: Cordon still in place

    Police are still at the scene of the robbery in Ashby.

    It's the second robbery on the street this week - a cash machine was ripped from the wall of the nearby Nationwide early on Monday.

    People have been getting in touch on Facebook to share their views after the robbery at the Co-op store in Ashby-de-la-Zouch last night.

    A gang of men threatened staff with a baseball bat and golf club, and afterwards one suspect was held in the street by a member of the public. Police have made two arrests.

    Martin Avins said: "Well done to those members of the public who assisted in the apprehension and restraining of this chap and also to those emergency services personnel attending the scene."

  15. Street orchestra to play in Leicester

    The Street Orchestra of London will be performing 20 different pieces of music, including classical and jazz, in Leicester today.

    As part of their summer tour, the band is performing at six different locations, including Jubilee Square.

    They've already played at Leicester Prison and Leicester Hospital's oncology centre.
