New parking charges good for 'popping to bank'

Dave Wade

BBC Local Live

Rushcliffe Borough Council said it's proposing the new charging structure as part of plans to support the town centre economy and in response to feedback from residents.

Councillor John Cottee said it'll work out better for people who just want to "pop to the bank".

"We’ve listened and have created this new proposed charging structure to suit those who just pop in to use the shops," he said.

"For those who are having a meal or taking a more leisurely stroll around the wonderful range of stores, it will only cost a reasonable £3 for up to three hours.”

Love locks 'may have to be removed one day'

Dave Wade

BBC Local Live

Severn Trent Water, which owns the Wilford suspension bridge, has said, while it's "a lovely idea" to attach love locks on the bridge, one day they may have to be removed.

"However, even though we have no plans to take the locks off anytime soon, there may come a time in the future that the bridge may require some maintenance, where we can't guarantee the locks will stay," a spokesman said.
