I've just had clarification from Notts Police that the southbound side is open but it'll take a while for the traffic to clear.

Although with traffic being less busy at this time of night hopefully that shouldn't take too long.

We've not had any updates from Derbyshire Police for a few hours now.

All we know so far is a woman died in Borrowash at 11:00

This is being linked to an incident on the M1, which has closed the motorway in both directions.

  13. Confirmed: M1 northbound side still closed

    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

A definitive answer as to whether the M1 northbound is shut at last.

It's still closed but the trapped traffic is being released, a Highways England spokesman has told us.

He said they will let us know when the carriageway does re-open.

  14. 'Pregnant and trapped in traffic'

You've been sharing your stories of being trapped in the M1 traffic on Facebook.

Lucy Webster wrote: "8 months pregnant and been sat on m1 since 1 is not good just been shouting at a lorry driver for not letting us get on to hard shoulder to have a wee"

Jo Dianthus Twells said: "A6002 is chocker, taken us 40 mins to get from IKEA to the Stella turn off."

Alan Buxey simply said: "Long journey home tonight"

  15. Is the M1 northbound open?

    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

Truth is we're not sure. Derbyshire Police say no but the Highways England traffic cameras tell a different story...

The side nearest to the camera is the northbound side.
