Share deal 'would bring fans closer' to club

Calum McKenzie

BBC Local Live

The newly formed Nottingham Forest Supporters Trust said its shares plan could be part of a deal involving outgoing owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi and prospective buyer John Jay Moores.

"We've had some conversations with the current owner," the trust's interim chairman Richard Antcliff said.

"We've not had direct communication with the interested party coming in, but it would be a great opportunity for new owners to bring fans closer."

Gurney told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Notts are a very special club with a lot of history. In my five years here, my career has been on an upward trend.

"Despite the fact we've been relegated, I feel pretty optimistic about the future and quite excited to be getting stuck in under Peter Moores."

Broad probably 'near the top of the list for a pedicure'

Jonathan Agnew

BBC cricket correspondent in Rajkot

Stuart Broad knows how to have a joke with the travelling press corps.

He was one of the England team who revelled in Alastair Cook catching me having a pedicure.

Jonathan Agnew

I had only nipped in for a haircut so my heart sank when I saw Cook coming through the door. The players have enjoyed a good laugh at my expense but that's all part of the fun of touring.

I've yet to catch any of the players having a pedicure but Stuart would be near the top of my list if I had to predict!

Coaker growing impatient over electrification

Calum McKenzie

BBC Local Live

Here's a little bit more of what Vernon Coaker had to say about the state of the Midland Mainline.

He told Parliament: "The government needs to listen to what members are saying in this house and get on with doing something about the Midland Mainline."

Coaker: Region 'losing out' in rail deal

Calum McKenzie

BBC Local Live

The government has come under pressure from the region's MPs to commit to electrifying the Midland Mainline through Nottinghamshire.

Vernon Coaker
BBC

"It is the poor relation of the rail network," Gedling MP Vernon Coaker told a Parliamentary debate last night.

"If the government have to find savings for investment in other lines, it is the Midland Mainline that will once again be delayed and the people in our constituencies will be the losers."

Analysis: Broad set to reach test match milestone

Stuart Broad will play in his 100th Test tomorrow, which is a phenomenal achievement for a man who only started bowling fast when he was 17.

I have known Stuart for a long time and, on a personal note, I am chuffed for him and his family.

As he showed in the first Test in Bangladesh, he still produces incredible spells of bowling - whether it's because his dander is up, because he's cross, or purely because he is needed to stand up by the team. He just knows how to find that extra gear.
