Brendan Moffett, the chief executive of Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, has been talking about whether this day will see more cash brought into the area.

'Lets improve Nottingham for everyone,' says Soubry

Here is a little bit more of Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry's interview from College Green on Parliament Day. 

"We know the economic benefits wherever you are in the county," Ms Soubry told BBC Radio Nottingham. 

"One of the things I want to do is look at ways we can improve the lot for everyone across Nottingham. I'm particularly keen on skills and looking at making sure we get the right transport policy."

The Sheriff of Nottingham (no, not that one) Jackie Morris has said the day is about making those in power take notice of issues. 

"The funding cuts have been horrendous," she said. 

"We just can't tolerate any more and we've got to a point where people are doing two or three jobs (to get by) and we need to show people the constraints of our finances."
