    The family of 16-year-old Hannah Pearson, who died after being found unconscious in Newark at the weekend, have been paying tribute.

    In a statement issued through police, the family from Marston, Lincolnshire said: "She was a bright and bubbly girl with a lively spirit who embraced life.  

    "She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched."

  5. Kidnap victims still suffer mental scars

    We've already mentioned to you the story of the kidnap gang who have been jailed for snatching a Derbyshire businessman and holding one of his friends to ransom.

    Now Det Ch Insp Paul Myers has told BBC Radio Nottingham their victims have been "significantly affected by the ordeal".

    "They will continue to suffer the mental scares," he said.

    "Fortunately the physical scars have healed but I don't think you can ever forget something like this."

    The city has been named 8th in a table of the most cost effective universities in the UK.

    The survey of 2,500 students looked at how much they spent on a night out, how much time they spent studying and the average cost of rent.

  8. Reds say fans with tickets won't be affected by capacity issue

    Nottingham Forest issued a statement to fans earlier today in response to the county council limiting the capacity at The City Ground.

    The Reds say all parts of the ground will be affected by the reduction, rather than just one area staying shut.

    The club said any supporter already with a season or match ticket won't be affected by the capacity reduction, and they won't be asked to move to another seat.

  11. Prison assaults on the rise

    Nottingham Prison has seen the second highest rise in the number of assaults at East Midlands jails in the last five years. 

    According to recent government figures, there were 139 assaults in 2010 - rising to 297 last year. 

    Assaults at Lowdham Grange rose from 74 assaults to 231, while Whatton's increased from 13 to 31.

    She's shared a photo on her Instagram page of her official team photos from the Beijing Olympics in 2008, London in 2012 and as part of the BBC commentary team this year.

  13. Road closes for resurfacing

    Roadworks will take place on University Boulevard next weekend.

    The road - one of the busiest in Nottingham - will be closed inbound from Friday to Sunday with the outbound stretch closed overnight.

    Traffic diversions will be in place.

    Star of the 1970s Dave Syrett has died, aged 60. 

    The forward made 65 appearances for the club in the 1977-78 season.

  17. Gang left victim on a remote farm

    The Usher brothers were jailed along with three others for the kidnap of a Derbyshire businessman in April 2014.

    They put him in a van, bound his legs and hands and threatened to stab him and chop off his toes if he did not give them the keys to his safe.  

    Police said he was left "shoeless, battered and bruised" in a remote Nottinghamshire farm, but eventually managed to flag down a passing motorist.
