    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

Fittingly, the Flying Fish tells the story of an Englishman in Mexico who is called back to his ancestral home in the Midlands.

While sitting on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico he sees "flocks of flying-fish swept into the air, from nowhere… brilliantly twinkling in their flight of silvery watery wings rapidly fluttering".

    DH Lawrence

After he became ill with TB, Lawrence dictated the first nine pages of the story to Frieda and then later he continued to work on the story, stopping at the top of page 39.

The Flying Fish was started by Lawrence, who was ill with tuberculosis, in Mexico City in 1925.

    DH Lawrence text

  9. Fire being scaled down

    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

Latest update from the fire service: they've scaled down from eight fire engines to five.

However, firefighters have still not been able to get inside the building because it's structurally unstable.

They'll be there the rest of the day and into the evening.

The evacuated residents are still at the community centre, and no time has been given for them to return.

  10. Fan ban at Nottingham Forest's City Ground

It's a good job the football season is a few weeks away - Nottingham Forest's spectator capacity at its City Ground is limited to zero.

    Nottingham Forest's City Ground

Nottinghamshire County Council said it had no choice but to "restrict the club's spectator capacity to nil" because it has no safety certificate holder.

But fret not, it is understood the club will sort out its paperwork and the limit will be lifted "in the next couple of days" - fingers crossed that's before the start of the season.

  11. Notts hospitals to stop some heart procedures

    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

Away from the fire for a moment, Nottingham University Hospitals Trust is to stop providing secondary level congenital heart procedures.

These are procedures that don't require surgery like techniques to close a hole in the heart.

    QMC

It comes as MPs are to meet the Health Secretary to try to overturn a decision to stop children's heart surgery at Leicester's Glenfield Hospital.

NHS bosses in Nottingham said it's no reflection on the quality of the work they do.

  12. City council: No definitive time residents can go home

    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

There's "no immediate prospect" of residents being allowed back into their homes, according to Paul Millward from the city council.

"We can’t say definitively - the fire is still continuing, some work being done to isolate electricity and gas."

"I don’t know for definite yet at the moment."

  13. Firefighters have not yet been inside building

    Dave Wade

    BBC Local Live

Here's another update from Notts Fire and Rescue.

We've been told because the building is structurally unsafe, fire crews have still not been able to get inside so they've been fighting the fire from the outside.

Jo Wooler-Ward said: "The direction of the wind has also presented some challenges to the fire-fighting operation."

And she repeated the warning to keep windows and doors shut.
