  5. Waters 'buzzing' over move to Northampton Town

Striker Billy Waters has been reacting to his new three-year contract after his move to Northampton Town from Cheltenham for an undisclosed fee.

"I sort of know the area - I used to live in Silverstone," he said.

"I was in the Centre of Excellence until I was eight years old when I moved up north, so it's sort of coming back to where I started.

"With promotion last season, it just felt like the right club to come to. I trusted my gut and as soon as my agent mentioned Northampton I said 'that sounds good to me'."

  6. Weather Watchers: June in the gloom

Let's face it, we haven't exactly experienced the weather you'd expect for a summer month so far in June.

Heavy rain and wind were a feature earlier in the week, and today's scene - while dry - is far from inspiring either, with cloud covering the county.

Here's how some of our BBC Weather Watchers have seen the day so far:

  7. 'Champions Cup draw couldn't be much tougher for Saints'

    Graham McKechnie

    BBC Radio Northampton sport

It was always going to be a very difficult draw for Saints, having gone in as the bottom seeds.

But it really couldn't be much tougher than to end up in a pool with the reigning champions Saracens and the runners-up Clermont.

They've faced both in the Champions Cup in recent seasons at the quarter-finals stage, losing both matches.

However, their record against Ospreys is better in recent seasons, beating them home and away in both 2013-14 and 2014-15.

  8. Afternoon weather: Cloudy and dull

It's been largely cloudy day so far, and it's likely to remain that way.

There's a risk of some patchy rain later.

    Highs of 17C (63F).

    More details from BBC Weather.

  9. Cobblers sign Cheltenham striker Waters

League One side Northampton Town have signed striker Billy Waters from Cheltenham Town for an undisclosed fee.

    Billy Waters

The 22-year-old, who scored 16 goals for the League Two Robins last season, has signed a three-year contract.

He started his career at Crewe and made 93 appearances for Cheltenham since joining them in July 2015.

Waters declined the offer of a new contract at the Gloucestershire club, where he was both player of the season and top scorer in 2016-17.

"He was a key target for us and we feel he will provide a good balance to the other strikers we have," said Northampton boss Justin Edinburgh.

  10. Cobblers tease fans with news of new signing

Northampton Town have just tweeted news that they will be announcing their latest signing for the 2017-18 season this afternoon...

We'll bring you news of the new player later on.

  11. Attempted child abduction in Northampton

Police in Northampton say they are investigating an attempted child abduction in the town.

Officers say an 11-year-old boy was approached by a man in a white Transit-type van in Rowtree Road in East Hunsbury between 15:30 and 15:45 on Monday.

    Rowtree Road

The man driving the van told the boy to "get in". The boy ignored him, and carried on walking - pretending to call the police.

A red and white Mini Cooper, then pulled up behind the van which drove off.

The suspect is described as white, skinny, and aged about 30 with a bald head and stubble.

Police are keen to speak to the driver of the Mini - who, they believe, may be able to help their investigation.

  12. Saints to learn Champions Cup opponents

    Graham McKechnie

    BBC Radio Northampton sport

It's less than two weeks since Northampton Saints confirmed a ninth successive season in European rugby's top competition - the Champions Cup - and the draw for the 2017-18 edition takes place later.

Saints, who finished seventh in the English Premiership last season had to beat Connacht and Stade Francais in play-off matches last month to earn their place.

The 20 clubs involved will compete in five pools of four teams each.

We'll bring you news of who the Saints will face when the draw gets going at about 13:00.

  13. Prison 'inmates treated better than my dementia care home father'

    Craig Lewis

    BBC News

A deaf-blind dementia sufferer was made to sit in a chair soaked with his own urine by a care home manager, his daughter has claimed.

Rhona McKinlay said 84-year-old William was left "utterly humiliated" for hours at the Latimer Grange home with a circle drawn around his chair.

The ex-prison officer said she had seen inmates treated better than her father at the home, in Burton Latimer near Kettering.

Home owner Anthony Lampitt was contacted by the BBC, but a solicitor and PR firm responded on his behalf.

A spokesman for the home said it took "all allegations very seriously" and was "confident we provide a good standard of care".

Northamptonshire County Council and Northamptonshire Police are investigating.

  14. Rugby union: Saints' George North to start for Lions against Crusaders

Northampton Saints and Wales wing George North has been named in the starting XV for the British & Irish Lions match against the Crusaders on Saturday.

The Lions, who are made up of players from the home nations, are in New Zealand as part of their quadrennial tour of the southern hemisphere.

    George North

It will be North's first appearance of the 2017 tour.

His Saints team-mate, lock Courtney Lawes, is also part of the squad, but has not been named in the team for Saturday's match.

The Crusaders - who are unbeaten this season, having won all 14 games in New Zealand's Super Rugby competition - have eight All Blacks in their starting XV, including captain Sam Whitelock and Israel Dagg.
