  3. 'Positive' business expo 'maintains relationship' between Corby businesses

    I've been to the first Corby Business Expo today, with 20 businesses taking part.

    I spoke to Satty Nanoer, from Rockingham Motor Speedway, who told me it was important to "maintain the relationship between the businesses in Corby".


    She told me they were there to "build profile and showing businesses we are more than just a racing circuit".

    Organiser Shelia Smith told me she wanted a "positive event" following recent job losses in the area and the uncertainty of Tata Steel.

  4. Northamptonshire car 'not the fastest', but team confident

    The all-British team Strakka Racing are based at Whittlebury and are taking part in the Le Mans 24-hour race.

    The team's principal, Dan Walmsley, is confidence ahead of the event.

  5. Northamptonshire team heads to Le Mans

    A motorsport team from Northamptonshire will be the only all-British one at this weekend's Le Mans 24-hour race.

    Strakka Racing are based at Whittlebury, near Silverstone.

    The team will be taking 18 people to France and has been preparing for the race for six months.

  6. Colleagues' 'thoughts and prayers' with MP in critical condition after shooting

    Jo Cox, the Labour MP for Batley and Spen, is in a critical condition in hospital after being shot and stabbed during an attack near Leeds.

    Vote Leave and Remain have suspended campaigning in the EU referendum in light of the attack.

  8. Tresham College makes six redundancies

    Six redundancies among the teaching staff have been made at Tresham College, which is based in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough. It follows a consultation over a restructuring.

    A spokeswoman for Tresham says six posts have been made redundant from the A-Level staff and a further two people from the same department have been re-deployed to alternative roles within the college. 

  9. Fifty days until Rio: The swimmer inspired by her namesake

    Teenager Ellie Robinson will be competing in the S6 freestyle in Rio after making her major debut for Great Britain at the 2016 IPC Swimming European Championships.

    She won three bronze and one silver medal in her first international meet.

    The 14-year-old from Northampton was inspired by watching her now team-mate Ellie Simmonds at London 2012, and was talent spotted four years ago while competing for Northampton Swimming Club.

  10. Fifty days until Rio: Could our hurdlers make the plane?

    Next weekend the British Athletics Championship gets under way, with selection for Rio up for grabs.

    Two hoping to make the grade are Corby's Will Sharman and Kettering's Lucy Hatton.

    Sharman, 31, a European and Commonwealth silver medallist, will once again be in contention in the 110m hurdles.

    While Hatton, 21, will be in the 100m hurdles, and won silver at last year's European Indoor Championships.

    What a week for Northampton tennis player Alex Ward (centre in Orange).

    First he was given a wildcard for Wimbledon and now he's training with Andy Murray (sat down in white) at Queen's.

    Andy Murray takes on fellow Brit Aljaz Bedene at the tournament today, while Wimbledon starts on 27 June.

  12. Man punched and forced into car in Northampton town centre

    A man was snatched off a street in Northampton town centre, bundled into a car and driven off on Tuesday evening.

    The victim, a 27-year-old man, was grabbed by two men outside McDonalds in the Drapery, between 18.45 and 19:00.


    He was punched in the face and forced into a vehicle, believed to be a VW Passat.

    The victim was then driven to the Kings Heath area and further assaulted by two or three men.

    Police have posted descriptions of the men on their website and have appealed for witness

  13. Weather warning of rain for Northamptonshire

    The Met Office has issued a "yellow" weather warning for rain for Northamptonshire for both today and tomorrow.

    The warning for today is in place until 22:00. There could be flooding and disruption to travel where downpours occur.

    There is a similar warning in place for tomorrow between 10:00 and 22:00.

  14. Cobblers lose both wingers following League Two title win

    Now Ricky Holmes has left for Charlton, Northampton Town have lost both of their wingers from their League Two championship-winning side, after Nicky Adams joined Carlisle United last month.

    It means quite a few goals and assists have left the side.

  15. Holmes attracted by money offered by Charlton and closeness to family but he 'loved' Northampton, says chairman

    Northampton Town chairman Kelvin Thomas said once winger Ricky Holmes handed in a transfer request it was clear they couldn't persuade him to stay at the club, and they set about getting the "best deal possible".

    Thomas said Holmes, who joins Charlton for an undisclosed fee, "did fantastically" for the Cobblers and that "he wasn't desperate to leave" and "loved his time at Northampton".

    However, the chairman said the player, who turns 29 this week, told him that "at his age and stage of career, the financial offer available to him and the location of the club in relation to his family home, all added together, were big deciding factors."

  16. Cobblers' winger Holmes leaves for Charlton

    Northampton Town has confirmed midfielder Ricky Holmes has joinedCharlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

    Holmes joined the Cobblers from Portsmouth at the start of January 2015 and made 43 starts and 10 substitute appearances in his time at Sixfields.

    He scored 11 goals in Northampton's League Two title-winning season, and was nominated for the League Two player of the year.

  17. Fifty days until Rio: What is the 49ers sailing?

    Northamptonshire's Dylan Fletcher will be competing in the 49er sailing in Rio. This particular class of sailing has been in the Olympics ever since its debut in 2000 at Sydney.

    The boat is a "two-handed skiff-type high-performance sailing dinghy". The name comes from the hull length of 4.99 metres.

  18. Fifty days until Rio: Sailor Fletcher taking to the seas

    Another local name you can keep an eye on when the Rio Games begin in 50 days time is GB sailor Dylan Fletcher.

    He found out last month he and his partner Alain Sign will compete for Britain in the 49er class. The 28-year-old learned to sail at Pitsford and now lives in north Northamptonshire near Market Harborough.

    At the Rio 2016 Test Event in August 2014, the pair finished third and at the Sailing World Cup in Weymouth and Portland earlier this month they came second.

  19. Fifty days until Rio: Want to eat like Charley Hull?

    BBC Good Food has taken a look at what various athletes eat, including 20-year-old golfer Charley Hull.

    She reveals her favourite food is pizza (who doesn't love a hawaiian?) and unlike some other competitors in the Olympics, she doesn't really have to watch her weight.
