  4. Investment to protect homes after residents had no water for two days

    Anglian Water has completed more than £500,000-worth of investment on its pipe network, after a burst main left thousands of people without water after Christmas last year.

    Residents in Framingham Earl and Caistor St Edmund, near Norwich, spent two days without water, when a pipe burst at the nearby pumping station on 27 December.

    Following repairs, the water company decided additional investment was needed, spending £535,000 on alterations to the pipework and a new ultra-resilient booster pump, taking six months to finish.

  6. Stalker admitted fantasies about actress started when he was a teenager

    A 22-year-old man who admitted stalking EastEnders actress Samantha Womack told a court his fantasies about her started when he was 16.

    Great Yarmouth magistrates heard how Peter Rombough travelled 93 miles from his home in Ditchingham, near Bungay, to look for Ms Womack's home in Bedfordshire  in May last year, returning again in September.    

    Rombough left a letter at her house, saying he feared he "couldn't deal with the consequences" of rejection by Ms Womack. The letter went on to say he did not mean any harm. He later posted an apology on Twitter.

  7. Eight-week suspended sentence for soap star's stalker

    Peter Rombough, 22, from Ditchingham, Norfolk, has been sentenced after he admitted stalking EastEnders actress Samantha Womack at her home in Bedfordshire.

    He was given an eight-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, and was made the subject of a restraining order for two years banning him from making any contact with Ms Womack.

    He was also ordered not to go within 10 miles of her home village.

  10. Bereaved youngsters enjoy Santa cruise

    Father Christmas took time off from his busy schedule to join a group of children and their carers for a trip on the Norfolk Broads this morning.

    On the trip, organised by the Nelson's Journey charity, the children set off from Potter Heigham for Ranworth Broad. On their return, they were given a present from Santa.

  11. Walking home for Christmas

    A Norfolk soldier has completed a 456-mile (734km) charity walk back home to Brundall for Christmas.

    Staff Sgt Zak Thorpe, a soldier from the Royal Artillery, walked home from his barracks in Wiltshire to raise money for Walking With The Wounded.

    Each mile that he walked represented a British soldier wounded in the war in Afghanistan.

    The aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, has been making an appearance across many parts of the UK, including Norfolk.

  13. New port's owners hope to bring more work to the town

  14. Christmas rail timetables: A reminder

    Greater Anglia is advising customers that they'll be running revised timetables over the festive period.

    Network Rail will be undertaking engineering work during the Christmas period.

  15. Secure your home at Christmas with the 'gift of safety'

    Communities across Norfolk are being asked to give the "gift of safety" this Christmas, by looking out for vulnerable relatives and neighbours, as well thinking about their own home security.

    Norfolk Police is reminding residents to use the "close it, lock it, check it" system for home security, advising people not to leave their property in darkness to help prevent being targeted by thieves.

  17. Overturned car blocks city road

    A car has overturned close to the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

    Earlham Road is blocked and drivers are advised to avoid the area.

    First Bus says it's affecting the 22 and 26 services, and anyone trying to get to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is advised to take the 11 or 12 services.

  19. BreakingSecond arrest in murder inquiry

    Police investigating the death of a man in his 50s in Norwich on Sunday evening have made a second arrest.

    A 44-year-old man from the Norwich area has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. A 31-year-old man from the Norwich area arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

    Emergency services were called to a property in Suffolk Square at about 20:30 yesterday, following reports of a man with serious injuries. He was declared dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination will take place today.
