  3. Man appears in court on murder charge

    A man's appeared in court charged with the murder of a 16-year-old in the Meole Brace area of Shrewsbury.

    Declan Graves, who is 19 and from Dymchurch Road in Liverpool, will be held in custody until his trial at Stafford Crown Court in February.

    Michael Warham, from Liverpool, was found by a member of the public with a stab wound in Wayford Close on 1 August and died later in hospital.

  4. New Brighton body: 'No suspicious circumstances', police say

    Merseyside Police say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a pensioner from Knowsley whose body was found in Wirral.

    The 80-year-old from Stockbridge Village was spotted by New Brighton lighthouse a week ago. 

    It is thought his death was caused by drowning.

  6. Liverpool advice centre sees numbers double after becoming independent

    More people are being helped by a centre in Liverpool since it became independent of the national Citizens Advice Bureau network. 

    Liverpool Citizens Advice says the number of clients doubled within a month of it taking over in May.

    Their research shows the average client is a single, white British man aged between 45 and 59 and the majority are contacting the centre about changes to benefits.

    David Daley General Adviser at LCA says since setting up accounts on Facebook and Twitter, more people are now aware of the help available and are getting in touch via social media.

    The number of modern slavery victims in the UK is increasing according to the Salvation Army

    It runs the Government contract to care for victims and now supports five times as many people each year as it did in 2012.

    They are cared for at a number of safe houses, including one in Liverpool.

  11. Runcorn street art to curb under-age drinking

    Street art is being used to deter under-age drinking in Runcorn. 

    Halton trading standards and Cheshire Police officers have painted pavements outside off-licences and supermarkets in Murdishaw with a message warning that it is an offence to buy alcohol for under 18s. 

    It follows interviews with young drinkers who say they ask adults outside shops to buy it for them.

  12. Dog rescued in Kensington fire

    Merseyside firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire in Kensington.

    A tumble dryer sparked the blaze on Rawlins Street in Fairfield early on Sunday. 

    The nine-year-old old pet was pulled to safety and was given oxygen to revive it.
