Liverpool man wanted for absconding from prison

A Liverpool man has absconded from HMP Kirkham prison in Lancashire.

Philip Deens, 38, is wanted after failing to return to the prison on Sunday while released on a temporary licence.

Deens - who has links to Kirkdale, Aintree and Walton - was sentenced to nine years and nine months imprisonment for wounding with intent in July 2012.  

Cannabis farm with '£1.6m' a year yield uncovered

A cannabis farm with an estimated annual yield of £1.6m in Wallasey has been uncovered by police.

Who is Angela Eagle?

Angela Eagle, who represented the Remain side in some of the EU TV debates, had been tipped as a potential shadow chancellor but was given the business brief instead. 

She was also announced as shadow first secretary of state and deputised for Mr Corbyn at Prime Minister's Questions. The Labour MP for Wallasey stood in the deputy leadership contest and was also a cabinet minister under Gordon Brown.

Stolen motorbike warning for internet sellers

Police in Skelmersdale and Ormskirk are urging internet sellers to be vigilant after several motorbikes were stolen as part of online sales.

Officers have become concerned following several thefts in the past month where victims have reported arranging to sell off-road motorbikes through online auction and advertising websites.

Third Merseyside MP resigns from shadow cabinet

Liverpool Wavertree MP Luciana Berger has become the third Merseyside MP to quit the shadow cabinet.

In a letter to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, Ms Berger, who was Shadow Minister for Mental Health, spoke of her "deep sadness".

She said the referendum result had "utterly changed the political situation".

An under-threat service that allows sick children in west Cheshire to be treated at home has been saved.

The NHS West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group and the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said the service would now continue.

A service which allows sick children in Cheshire to be treated at home has been saved from the axe.  

Thousands of people signed a petition in April against money saving plans to close the Countess of Chester's Children's Hospital at Home scheme.  

NHS officials say it will continue, but campaigners say they still have concerns for the future.
