  5. Former Everton striker Marcus Bent pleads guilty to affray

    Ex-Premier League footballer Marcus Bent has admitted a charge of affray after an incident at his home in Surrey last September.

    The 37-year-old former Everton striker has already pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine at Guildford Crown Court.

    He faced charges after an incident in which he was reportedly Tasered by police responding to reports of a break-in at his home.

  6. Upton anti-fracking camp: Nine charged after eviction

    Nine people have been charged with a number of offences, including aggravated trespass and obstructing a police officer, following an operation to remove anti-fracking protesters from a test drilling site.

    Campaigners were evicted yesterday from a camp at Upton, near Chester, where they had been since April 2014.

  7. Paint ball guns stolen in Whiston robbery

    Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a burglary at Whiston Family Centre on Old Colliery Road in Whiston.

    Six paint ball guns were stolen when the centre was burgled sometime between 17:30 and 19:30 on Monday, police said.

  8. Rugby Union: Jones quits Exeter for league return

    Former St Helens utility player Josh Jones has left Premiership side Exeter Chiefs to return to rugby league.

  16. LFC apply to trademark "The Normal One"

    Liverpool Football Club have made an official application to have "The Normal One" trademarked under European law.

    Manager Jurgen Klopp coined the phrase to describe himself in his first press conference at Anfield after he took over from Brendan Rogers in October last year.

    He told reporters "I am a totally normal guy. I am the normal one, maybe".

  17. Motorcyclist injured after hit and run

    A 27-year-old man was injured this morning after his motorbike was involved in a collision with a car in Norris Green.

    Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses after the rider was knocked off his blue Peugeot bike by a light-coloured Jaguar estate near the junction of Dwerryhouse Lane and Carr Lane East at around 07:00 GMT. 

    Police say two men are reported to have got out of the car, which had roof bars and alloy wheels, before returning to it and driving away. They said the motorcyclist is in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital where he is being treated for internal injuries.
