  3. Man arrested after being hit by police vehicle

    A man has been arrested after he was hit by a police vehicle following a crash in Tuebrook.

    The 19-year-old ran from a Ford Fiesta, which is thought to have been stolen, after it collided with a parked car at about 15:00 at the junction of Buckingham Road and Ellerslie Road.

    He was then hit by the police vehicle and has been taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital where his condition is being assessed. Police said he had been arrested on suspicion of burglary, aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and disqualified driving.

  4. CCTV images released of man wanted in connection with robbery

    Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace after cash and cigarettes were stolen from a shop during a robbery in Bootle.

    A man who was armed with a knife entered the News and Booze store on Marsh Lane at 23:00 on Sunday.

    He was assisted by another man, described as white, of medium build, 6ft tall, about 20 – 30 years old, and dressed all in black.

  9. Jasmine Lapsley inquest: 'Panic' after girl fatally choked on grape

    A father has told an inquest how he felt medical staff failed to take control as his six-year-old daughter lay dying after choking on a grape.

    Jasmine Lapsley, from Liverpool, was on holiday with family in Morfa Nefyn, Gwynedd, when she began struggling for breath on 19 August 2014.

    Her father Robert told the Caernarfon hearing that ambulance staff looked "panicked" when they arrived to help.

  10. Liverpool men arrested after cocaine and cash discovery in Spain

    Five men from Liverpool have been arrested after Spanish police say they seized three tonnes of cocaine.

    Officers arrested a total of 11 suspected drugs smugglers from Britain, the Netherlands and Spain after the drugs were found in a van in a warehouse in the north-western Galicia region following a tip-off from the UK National Crime Agency.

    It is the largest seizure in the region for 17 years, police said. Officers also found one million euros (£730,000) in cash, and a gun.

  13. Five Liverpool men arrested over Spain cocaine smuggle plot

    Five men from Liverpool have been arrested in Spain suspected of trying to smuggle cocaine into the UK. 

    Three tonnes of the drug were found in a warehouse in Galicia in the north west of the country following a tip off from the UK National Crime Agency. 

    Seven British nationals were arrested in total - Spanish police said was the biggest drug haul in the region in nearly 20 years.

  14. Hillsborough Inquests: Jury hears final day of evidence

    The longest inquest in British legal history is hearing the final day of evidence about Liverpool fans who died in the Hillsborough disaster.  


    The jury is being presented with evidence on six of the supporters who died at the FA Cup semi-final on 15 April 1989, including Tony Bland.  

  15. Merseyside MP Maria Eagle may face move in shadow cabinet shuffle

    Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is reshuffling his team of shadow ministers.

    It is understood he has decided Shadow Foreign Secretary Hilary Benn will stay in his job -- even though he voted against his leader over air strikes in Syria. 

    But Shadow Defence Secretary and MP for Garston and Halewood Maria Eagle - who disagrees with Jeremy Corbyn over Trident nuclear weapons - is likely to be moved.
