    Merseyside Coroner’s Office is appealing for the public’s help in tracing the next of kin of a Wirral man who died last week.  

  6. Driver treated after tanker spillage in St Helens

    A driver was rescued after his tanker was involved in a spillage at an industrial site in St Helens.

    Firefighters were able to contain the spillage of 20,000 litres of a hazardous chemical, after they were called at about 11:20 to Lea Green Road.

    The driver, aged about 50, was treated by paramedics.

  8. Councillors in Cheshire discuss fracking permission proposals

    Councillors in Cheshire are discussing proposals that could make it more difficult for energy firms to be given permission to carry out fracking in the county. 

    At the moment, some planning applications are dealt with by officers at Cheshire West and Chester council under delegated powers. 

    But a motion being debated tonight would see all applications approved or rejected by councillors.

  9. Cheshire police and fire HQs merger approved

      Cheshire's fire and police chiefs have backed plans to operate out of a single headquarters.

    The approval in principle was made on Wednesday at separate meetings held by Cheshire Fire Authority and the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

    Jurgen Klopp has held his hands up and said maybe Daniel Sturridge's latest injury set back is his fault for asking too much too soon.

    The Liverpool striker suffered a slight hamstring strain - but after initially thinking he could be out until the New Year there is now a chance he'll be back for the Watford game in 10 days time. 

    The Reds boss admits they could now tailor Sturridge's training regime to avoid further problems.
