This evening will see some patchy cloud with a few bright spells. Lows of 9C tonight.

It will be a mostly fine day with some sunny spells tomorrow.

Boxing: Fury could lose licence on Wednesday

Tyson Fury could potentially be stripped of his boxing licence at a meeting of the British Boxing Board of Control on Wednesday. 

The Wythenshawe-born boxer's case will be discussed by officials after a reported failed drugs test in the United States and his admission in Rolling Stone magazine that he has "done lots of cocaine".

Olympic Athletes' Parade route mapped out for motorists

Transport for Greater Manchester has mapped out the parade route for Monday's Olympic Athletes' Parade, identifying the route, road closures and areas likely to face congestion.

The parade will start at 16:30 BST on Monday and will set off from outside the Museum of Science and Industry before completing a route through the city centre and ending in Albert Square.

Murder probe after badly burned body found near Glossop

A murder inquiry has begun after a badly burned body was found in a lay-by near Glossop, on the edge of the Peak District.

The body was found in a lay-by off the Woodhead pass, east of Tintwistle, on Monday.

 Officers said the corpse was too badly burned for the gender to be confirmed. A post-mortem examination is yet to take place.

Football: 'Difficult time' for Rooney

A stand-off is taking place between police and protesters at a Manchester pub as bailiffs try to clear squatters and homeless people from the building.

About 30 squatters have been living in the building and one of the protesters is currently on the roof.

In the Greater Manchester contest, Mr Nzeribe joins Labour's Andy Burnham, Liberal Democrat Jane Brophy, and UKIP candidate Shneur Zalman Odze.

Trafford Council leader Sean Anstee has put his name forward as the Conservative candidate, but the party will make their choice later this month.

Cricket: Procter and Parkinson agree new Lancs deals

Lancashire pair Luke Procter and Matthew Parkinson have both signed new two-year contracts.

All-rounder Procter, 28, from Oldham, hit 822 runs and two centuries batting at three during 2016 and played in every County Championship game.

Spin bowler Parkinson, 19, from Bolton, made his Red Rose debut in June against Warwickshire where he took a first innings' 5-49.

Plans for golf course and 1,200 homes go on display

A public consultation is being launched on plans to build a golf course and about 1,200 homes on the site of the Hulton Park Estate in Bolton.

The estate, near Westhoughton, was home to the Hulton family for more than 800 years, but Hulton Hall was demolished in 1958.

Property giant Peel have since bought the land, and the plans also include a golf training academy, parkland, and a hotel.

The plans will go on show at the Market Place Shopping Centre in Bolton on Friday.

IMAX to pilot virtual reality 'pods' in Manchester

Cinema-goers in Manchester will be the first to be able to 'step into' films as part of a new virtual reality experience from IMAX.

The company said they are launching a pilot scheme built around specially designed "pods" where groups can put on virtual reality headsets and be able to move around and interact with the virtual environment they see. 

The first UK centre will open later this year at Manchester's Odeon Printworks venue.

Rochdale NHS con artist couple must repay £180k

Two NHS managers who masterminded a £1m fraud have been ordered to repay more than £180,000 to the health service.

John Leigh, 56, and Deborah Hancox, 46, channelled the cash into false companies they set up while working for the former North West Strategic Health Authority.

The used the money to lead luxury lifestyles, buying a cottage in the Lake District and a Jaguar convertible.

The couple have been ordered to repay a total of £184,930.

Man stabbed after confronting group outside home

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed when he confronted a group of men who were shouting abuse outside his home in Oldham. 

The 22-year-old victim was stabbed a number of times after he challenged the group on Hollins Road in the Lime Side area of the town on Saturday night. 

Police are searching for five hooded men, who were all wearing dark clothing.

Scout Moor wind farm plans: Public inquiry due to open

A public inquiry into plans to create England's largest onshore wind farm is due to open later.

Peel Energy and United Utilities want to add a further 16 turbines at Scout Moor in Greater Manchester, on land between Rochdale and Rossendale.

Planning permission was granted by both Rochdale and Rossendale councils but the government called in the decision.

The hearing is expected to last about a week but a final decision is not expected until next year.
