  5. Possible sightings of missing Jade Lynch in Manchester city centre

    Police have received a "vast amount of information" in the search for a missing 14-year-old Warrington girl.

    Jade Lynch who was living in St. Helens has not been seen since Saturday 26 March and is described as "an extremely vulnerable person".  

    Cheshire Police said they were following up a number of lines of inquiry, including possible sightings in Manchester city centre.

  7. Search for Wigan cemeteries aluminium pot thief

    A thief who has been targeting two cemeteries in Wigan stealing more than £4,000 of memorial aluminium pots is being sought by police.

    The offender ransacked a large number of graves at Wigan Council's Cemetery and Westwood Cemetery in Westwood Lane, Lower Ince, last month.

    Con Sean Robinson, of Greater Manchester Police, described the thefts as "sacrilege." 

  8. Wanderers' midfielder sorry for offensive gesture

    Bolton Wanderers midfielder Liam Trotter has apologised for making an offensive gesture with David Wheater in a pre-match live club broadcast.

    The club have fined the pair for the incident, which happened prior to Tuesday evening's defeat by Brentford.

    "I'd like to apologise to the Bolton fans for what we did before the game," Trotter, 27, told BBC Radio Manchester.

    Daniel Smith  was just 21 when he was commended for his brave actions in Iraq, becoming one of the youngest recipients of the George Medal.

    He has since found it difficult to get treatment and, for several nights each week, sleeps in his car to get away from people and control his anger management issues.

    He says he was given good treatment at first but it tailed off, leaving him frustrated and bitter.

  10. Rugby league World Cup winner dies after long illness

    Two-time World Cup winner Mick Sullivan, who used to play for Wigan, has died at the age of 82 after a long illness.

    The winger helped Great Britain win the World Cup as a 20-year-old in 1954, and again six years later.

  11. Next of kin appeal after death of Fallowfield woman

    The public is being urged to help find the next of kin of a Fallowfied woman who died at home on Monday.

    Police said there were no suspicious circumstances in the death of 74-year-old Anne Jackson.  It is believed she has relatives in Bristol.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police Coroner's Office on 0161 856 4155.
