Football: Lincoln City striker will be fit for double header

Lincoln City's Matt Rhead will be fit for Saturday's match against Macclesfield, it's been revealed.

Manager Danny Cowley says the striker will be available for the two matches over the weekend. 

Rhead has been missing with a hamstring injury but could come straight back into the starting 11 at Macclesfield.

BreakingPolice helicopter helps in search in Boston

BBC Radio Lincolnshire

A police helicopter is helping in a search around Boston after a woman was assaulted this afternoon. 

The incident took place at around 14:00 at Westwood Lakes Woods in Wyberton.

Officers are currently on the scene.

Travel: Heavy traffic towards Lincolnshire coast

Roads heading towards the Lincolnshire coast are exceptionally busy as thousands of people head to the seaside resorts for the Bank Holiday weekend. 

There is currently heavy traffic on the A158 at Wragby and Horncastle.

Sacked kayak theft officer represented UK at world championships

We have more on the story about the sacked police officer who sold a stolen kayak and paddles on eBay.

It has emerged that he recently represented the UK at the canoeing world championships.

PC Andrew Hamilton was dismissed by Lincolnshire Police for gross misconduct on Wednesday.

Sport in Lincolnshire this weekend

Lincoln City take on Gateshead at home on Bank Holiday Monday, kicking off at Sincil Bank Stadium at 15:00. 

Scunthorpe FC are away to Port Vale tomorrow, when League Two side Grimsby Town play Stevenage at home

Meanwhile, non-league teams Boston United, Gainsborough Trinity, Grantham Town and Stamford AFC also play and there will be updates on BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

Farmer Andrew Ward appeals for return of stolen MBE

A farmer honoured for his work with flood victims has appealed for the return of his MBE after thieves stole his car containing the award.

Andrew Ward founded the Forage Aid charity to help livestock producers hit by bad weather in 2014.

NHS bosses confirm plans for new minor illness and injury service at Grantham Hospital

NHS managers in Lincolnshire have confirmed they are working to provide a new short-term minor illness and injuries service at Grantham Hospital.

The hospital A&E department is currently closed from 18:30 after United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust said it didn't have enough staff. 

The new service would be open until 11.30pm and could be available from mid-September.

A walk-in centre could be provided for patients at Grantham and District Hospital until 23:30 at night, it has been claimed.

The hospital A&E department is currently closed from 18:30 after United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust said it didn't have enough staff. 

Martin Hill, the leader of Lincolnshire County Council, says he has managed to get agreement to the idea of a walk-in.

The hospital trust has not yet commented.

BreakingFarm worker dies after being hit by slab of concrete

A man in his 60s has died after being hit by a slab of concrete at a farm near Sleaford.

It happened in a barn at South Rauceby near Sleaford yesterday afternoon. 

The police have described it as an industrial accident.

An investigation is underway.   

Lincolnshire mental health services receive £400k government funding boost

Over £400,000 in government funding will prevent vulnerable children and adults from ending up in police cells, the trust in charge of Lincolnshire’s mental health services has said.  

Dog Watch could come to Lincolnshire

A new Dog Watch could be formed in Lincolnshire along the lines of the current Neighbourhood Watch system.

Humberside Police is supporting a new drive from North East Lincolnshire Council to create a network of dog walkers to keep an eye out for anti-social behaviour.


The initiative is also being supported by the North East Lincolnshire arson partnership – formed in March - to reduce the number of fires being started deliberately.

Police investigating a theft from Bargain Buys in Louth have released CCTV images of two women they'd like to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC sacked after selling stolen kayak represented GB at World Champonships

A police officer who stole a kayak and sold it on eBay had recently represented Great Britain at the canoeing World Championships, it has emerged.

PC Andrew Hamilton, from Grantham CID, was sacked by Lincolnshire Police for gross misconduct just months after he competed at the wild water canoeing world championships in Bosnia. 

He was dismissed this week after he was found guilty of stealing a kayak and a set of paddles from Nottingham Kayak Club between May and July. 

In June this year PC Hamilton was described by national coaches as the "standout performer" of the Great Britain team which competed at the 2016 wild water canoeing world championships in Bosnia.

Local cricket declines in Lincolnshire

Thirty village cricket teams have folded in the last 25 years, a BBC investigation has found.

Radio Lincolnshire found that the county's Lincoln and District League has been hit the hardest, losing on average one team a year since 1990.  

Bardney Cricket Club - set up in the 19th Century - is one such cricket club to fold.
