Woman attacked at caravan site

A rape investigation is under way after a woman was attacked at a caravan park in Cleethorpes over the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend. 

The 26-year-old was allegedly attacked by two men as she walked towards the reception area of Thorpe Park at 23:30. 

The woman was raped by one of the men. 

She had been walking barefoot at the time and officers are keen to speak to a couple pushing a pram who the victim stopped shortly before the assault.

Biker killed in Bitchfield crash

BBC Radio Lincolnshire

A biker has died following a collision on the B1176 in Bitchfield, near Grantham this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.08 after the collision between the male motorcyclist, who is from Lincolnshire, and a lorry.

The lorry driver was not injured. 

The road remains closed between Ingoldsby road and the A151 this afternoon as an investigation takes place.  

Vandals wreck new play area in Grimsby

Vandals have destroyed a play area in woodland on the outskirts of Grimsby which has only been in place for a couple of weeks.

Longitude Wood was created a year and a half ago on land between Great Coates and Grimsby by the banks of the River Freshney. 

 A natural play area was built there recently but now it's been vandalised.

Lincolnshire have won their minor counties match against Bedfordshire at Sleaford by ten wickets.

The visitors resumed their second innings on 117 for 8 only 18 runs behind the hosts' first innings total.

Two early wickets and a four off his first ball from Jonathan Tattersall ensured Lincolnshire's early victory.

The Mariners will play their traditional summer fixture against Cleethorpes Town on Wednesday, 6 July at the Linden Homes Club.

Parking fines 'will pay for CCTV enforcement vans'

Drivers in Lincolnshire have paid more than a million pounds in parking fines over the past year. 

Lincolnshire County Council figures show almost 34,000 tickets were issued by parking wardens.

Play to raise money for statue for Scunthorpe's 'women of steel'

A fundraising play is being staged in Scunthorpe about the role that women played in the town's steel industry during the Second World War. 

The money raised will go towards paying for a permanent statue to remember the women's war effort in North Lincolnshire.

A similar tribute will be unveiled in Sheffield later this month.

The play - called Women of Steel - will be performed at the town's Plowright Theatre on Thursday 16, Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June.

Breaking999 'campus' for Lincoln gets council approval

Major plans for the emergency services in Lincolnshire to work more closely together have been approved. 

The county council's Executive Committee has just agreed plans for greater collaboration.

The move would see a new 999 campus on South Park in Lincoln - but the idea still requires the approval of the new Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones.  

Toilet charge considered to save council cash

Shoppers and visitors to Lincoln could soon have to pay to use the city's public toilets. 

The City of Lincoln Council is considering charging 20p for those at Castle Square, Tentercroft Street and Lucy Tower Street.

Eyes on the sky for flypast practice

Preparations are underway for a practice for the Queen's 90th Birthday Flypast this morning.

According to the RAF, aircraft from various stations will take part with the formation arriving at RAF Cranwell at 13.00.

The practice flypast will include a pair of Typhoons, two Tornados, a number of transport and logistic aircraft, four helicopters, surveillance aircraft and a variety of training aircraft.  

CCTV released after Scunthorpe car vandalism

Police have released a CCTV still of a man they want to interview after tyres were punctured on a number of vehicles in Scunthorpe's Frodingham Road.

The damage was between 12.40 and 14.00 on Sunday, with vehicles parked between Digby Street and Sheffield Street being targeted.

Officers want to speak to two men and woman seen close to cars in the area at the time, who left in the direction of Berkeley Street.

Police name pensioner killed in accident

An 89-year-old woman who died after being hit by a car in Horncastle has been named by police this morning.

Sybil Bush died after the incident involving a Nissan car in the town's Stanhope Road at around 12.15 on Sunday.

Cyclist suffers neck injuries in Grimsby crash

A cyclist was taken to hospital with serious neck injuries last night after a collision with a car in Grimsby.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident which happened at around 20.00 at the Weelsby Road junction with Park Drive.

The 53-year-old cyclist was riding a silver mountain bike and collided with a blue Honda Accord.

Any witnesses should call police on 101.

Burnt out car causing tip problems

We've just heard from Lincolnshire County Council about problems at its household waste recycling centre in Boston.

There's a burnt out car at the entrance to the site on Slippery Gowt Lane, and you're being advised to stay away for now.

The council hopes to have the car shifted later this morning.

Fireworks regulations rejected despite petition

The government is rejecting calls for new regulations on the sale and use of fireworks. 

Yesterday MPs debated tightening restrictions on fireworks - after an online petition was started by a Lincolnshire woman. 


More than 100,000 people signed the petition - set up by Julie Doorne from Oasby, near Sleaford who said she was worried about the effect on pets and animals.

But during the debate yesterday business minister Jo Johnson said more rules could lead to more illegal use of fireworks.
