  3. Scunthorpe man jailed after attack on Lincoln night out

    A drunk who knocked a man unconscious on a night out in Lincoln has been jailed. 

    Lincoln Crown Court heard that Rhys Whitehouse broke the victim's eye socket in the unprovoked attack. 

    It happened on Flaxengate last September. 

    The 21 year old from Scunthorpe admitted grievous bodily harm and was jailed for 12 months.  

  4. Football: Former Imps director in Notts County exit

    The former Lincoln City director Ray Trew has stepped down as Notts County chairman and put the club up for sale. 

    Trew says his family has been subject to "foul, mindless abuse" in recent days.

    He's been under pressure from some supporters since the unpopular appointment of Jamie Fullarton as manager in January.    

  5. Inquest: Lincolnshire terror victim unlawfully killed

    An inquest has ruled that a woman from Lincolnshire was unlawfully killed in a terrorist attack in Tunisia last year. 

    Sally Adey who grew up in Scothern near Lincoln but moved to Shropshire was shot in a museum while on holiday in Tunis last March.

    After the hearing her family released a statement saying she was a "very much loved mother wife and daughter who is missed by all".

  7. Men arrested over £300,000 Sleaford wine bar fraud allegations

    The City of London police have arrested three men over what they're calling a "commercial property insurance fraud" centred on a Sleaford wine bar.

    Detectives from the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department say the trio, two aged 32 and one aged 29, are suspected of making three separate £100,000  insurance claims on The Lounge, in the town's Southgate.

    It's alleged the bar was never open or operating, and the claims for "material damage and loss of earnings" were fraudulent and linked to money laundering.

  8. Whale experts say stranding investigations could take months

    Academics examining samples from the whales that beached on the Lincolnshire coast earlier this year say they're a long way from discovering why it happened.

    Marine experts have speculated the huge mammals could have strayed into the North Sea while hunting for squid.

    But Rob Deaville, from the Zoological Society of London, who's leading the investigation, tells me it could be many more months before they know precisely why it happened. 

  9. Traffic and travel: A15 fully reopen after lorry accident

    The A15 north of Lincoln at Waddingham has now reopened after recovery of an overturned lorry.

  13. Garden waste charge paid by more than 2,000 people

    Boston Borough Council's decided residents should pay £30 to have their garden waste bins emptied from this spring.

    And it looks like many people are happy to pay for the service with the authority saying more than 2,000 people have signed up on the first day.

    According to the council "there were queues almost out of the door at Municipal Buildings" for people ready to pay the charge.

    The 2016 Red Arrows team has reached a major milestone in their training – flying together for the first time in a training display.

  15. Students make top 30 in chocoholic table

    Students in Lincoln get through more than 16,500 chocolate bars a year according to a new study by the British Heart Foundation.

    The figures have been compiled as part of the charity's Dechox campaign which aims to raise money and awareness of the dangers of too much sugar. 

    The worst offenders were Northumbria University students, who get through 82,355 bars a year.

  16. Meccano-mad modellers ready for show

    Meccano models like this will be on display in Lincoln on Saturday and Sunday as the city hosts its annual Meccano Weekend.

    It's held at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life on Burton Road and will have many hands-on activities for adults and children.

    Theresa Workman, from the museum, says: "Whether you're an interested amateur, budding inventor or experienced engineer, Meccano models will be set up for you to study."
