Belvoir Castle has pledged ancient oak trees to help rebuild the fire-damaged Notre-Dame cathedral.

"The trees in the original roof at Notre-Dame probably started growing over 1,000 years ago," the Duke said.

Two holidaymakers, accused of killing a Nottingham grandmother during a brawl outside a bar in Lincolnshire last summer, have been cleared of murder and manslaughter.

The jury at Lincoln Crown Court deliberated for five hours before returning verdicts of not guilty against Leon Wadsworth and Hayley Fletcher, both from Sheffield.
Wadsworth, 31, of Milnrow Road, did admit causing actual bodily harm to Michael Wilcox - prosecutors claimed his headbutt was what started the trouble.
He is expected to be sentenced later today.

A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sandiacre this morning.
The woman was pronounced dead after being hit at 09:10 in Derby Road.
Her family have been informed.

Firefighters have been assisting with an oven fire at the Walkers factory in Leicester.

The fire was contained in industrial oven and left to cool by integrated cooling system. This was monitored by the firefighters who had a hose reel on standby.
Staff were evacuated from the building.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of firearm and drug offences in Nottingham last month.
The 26-year-old was arrested in Penistone Road, Sheffield, this morning in connection with the alleged offences in New Basford on 26 March.

A court has heard how a Nottingham man tracked down his victim before killing him with a single punch to the head.
Oliver Brown, of Digby Avenue, Mapperley, is on trial for the manslaughter of Stephan Walsh.Copyright: BBC
The prosecution has said Mr Brown went looking for Mr Walsh after their cars collided on 29 July 2018.
Mr Walsh, 37, had been drinking and instead of stopping, he drove home.
Mr Brown, 21, later turned up on his doorstep and punched Mr Walsh in the face.

Mr Brown handed himself over to the police but insists he acted in self defence falsebecause Mr Walsh had been drunk and aggressive.
Mr Brown's girlfriend, Roseann Newton, also faces charges of assisting an offender.
The 21-year-old, of Findern Green, Sneinton, had been with her boyfriend at the time of the crash and was also there when he punched Mr Walsh.
The trial continues.
