    Tonight will be dry and chilly with some clear spells although cloud will tend to increase as the night goes on.

    A mostly cloudy start tomorrow but it should be dry.

    The cloud will become more broken as the day progresses to give some spells of sunshine.

  5. Girl indecently assaulted in park

    A girl was indecently assaulted on the Forest Recreation Ground in Nottingham on Wednesday evening, police have said.

    The man kissed the girl and touched her inappropriately between 19:00 and 20:00 after he arranged to meet her.

    Nottinghamshire Police believe he may be contacting and grooming young girls over Facebook.

    The man was described as white with a tanned complexion, of slim build and wearing dark blue joggers and a black coat with a hood.

    He had a white and black or brown Staffordshire bull terrier dog with him which responded to the name, Diamond.

  6. Woman killed in A52 crash

    A woman died in a car crash on the A52 in Bottesford last night.

    Police said two cars were involved - a Vauxhall Corsa and a Volkswagen Golf. They collided at the junction with Belvoir Road just after 19:00.


    The driver of the Corsa died while the passenger sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

    The driver and passenger of the Golf were injured and taken to hospital but have since been discharged.

  7. Police car window smashed

    A police car had its rear window smashed in Leicester last night while offices were "dealing with an incident".

    It happened on Caledine Road in the New Parks area.

    The car has now been taken off the road. The chief constable of Leicestershire Police has said this is "just not acceptable".

    Simon Cole said it impacts on their ability to attend to other calls for service.

  8. Mayor warns of future 'appalling' financial decisions

    Leicester's City Mayor, Sir Peter Soulsby, has said there is still great financial uncertainty ahead for the city council as he unveils his budget proposals for the next year.

    The books will be balanced for 2019 and 2020 but he has warned there will still be more difficult decisions to come.

    Sir Peter said: "When you take out what we spend on adult social care and children’s social care, everything else that the council provides has had to or is having to reduce by two thirds.

    "That of course means that very little will be left uncut and some appalling decisions will have to be made."

  9. Boy injured in 4x4 hit and run

    A teenage boy was hit by a 4x4 which then fled the scene, leaving behind a wing mirror.

    The 14-year-old had to be taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries after the crash in South Normanton yesterday, police said.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses or for anyone who sees a silver Range Rover driving around without a nearside wing mirror to contact them.

  10. Police officer 'seriously injured' in pub assault

    A police officer suffered "serious injuries" when a chair was thrown at him and he was punched in the head in a bar room brawl.

    Officers were called to the Stanhope Arms, near Bretby in Derbyshire, on 30 November to reports of a fight only for people to attack them.

    One man punched the officer in the head, another threw a chair and him and a third attempted to punch him.

    A 45-year-old man has been arrested and released pending further investigations and police are looking to trace two other men in connection with the assault.

  11. Woman attacked in front of her children

    A mum was punched in the face and robbed in front of her children while they waited at a bus stop.

    The 42-year-old was left with a fractured eye socket after the attack in Nottingham Road, New Basford, on Sunday.

    She was with two six-year-olds when the man attacked her, knocking her to the ground before kicking her and making off with her handbag.

    The man, who ran off down Zulu Road, is described as white, aged in his late 20s, about 5ft 6ins and slim, wearing a black hooded jacket.

  12. Jogger has face slashed

    A teenager has been slashed in the face while out jogging in Leicestershire.

    It happened on a footpath just off Linden Farm Drive in Countesthorpe on Saturday evening.

    The 17-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

    Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has since been released while inquiries continue.

  13. Spireites sign midfielder on loan

    Chesterfield have signed attacking midfielder Alfie Beestin on a one-month loan from League One club Doncaster Rovers.

    Manager Martin Allen said: "He is an attacking midfielder who shows quality in the final third and can play on the right, on the left or in as a number 10.

    "He is young and hungry, he's based up here and he can't wait to get started."

    The move sees him link-up with fellow Rovers forward Alex Kiwomya, who is also on loan at the Proact Stadium.

  14. Footballers get festive at Derby hospital

    Derby County players have been visiting children at the Royal Derby Hospital ahead of Christmas.

    Richard Keogh, Mason Mount, and Jayden Bogle were among those that met the patients earlier this month after a training session.

    Club mascot Rammie was also there to help "spread some early festive cheer".

    The players and the club made a donation to help pay for some new hospital items.

  15. Man arrested in connection with shooting

    A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Bestwood Park last month.

    He is currently being questioned on suspicion of causing grevious bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, after a 31-year-old man was shot in the leg in the Eversley Walk area at 20:50 on 9 November.

    His injuries were not life-threatening or life-altering.
