  9. Video backs theory of helicopter tail rotor failure

    Tom Burridge

    Correspondent

A new video which shows the take-off of the AW 169 helicopter from the King Power Stadium on Saturday night backs up one of the most likely theories that the aircraft's tail rotor suffered some kind of failure.

The video confirms the helicopter went into a spin, seconds after take-off, which is consistent with a problem with the tail rotor.

Helicopter taking off at King Power Stadium

Eye witness accounts at the weekend said the helicopter started spinning and since then several aviation experts have suggested that the spin would suggest tail rotor failure.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch will not comment on the video or on the possible causes of the crash - it said it is too early to do so. The AAIB will consider a wealth of evidence, and the video is just one element.

A spokesperson for Leonardo, the Italian company which manufacturers the AW 169, said it was working closely with the AAIB and the authorities in Britain. So far Leonardo has not issued any new safety advice relating to the AW 169, in light of the crash.

  15. Young fans organise tribute walk to football stadium

    Amy Woodfield

    BBC News

Two young sisters from Leicester are trying to organise a walk in memory of those who lost their lives in Saturday's helicopter crash.

    Megan and Casey Elliott

Megan and Casey Elliott had hoped that around 5,000 people would take part after the Foxes won the Premier League in 2016 with 5,000 to one odds.

It looks like many more could attend though, with nearly 9,000 expressing an interest on Facebook.

    Tributes at King Power stadium

The walk will take place on Saturday 10 November - the day of the Leicester City v Burnley match.

Fans will walk from Jubilee Square to King Power Stadium in time for kick-off.
