  6. Suspects released after Derby hit-and-run

    Four people arrested in connection with a hit-and-run which left a teenager with life-changing injuries have been released while investigations continue.

    The 19-year-old man, who is now in a wheelchair, was sent flying through the air after being struck by a car in Normanton Road, Derby on 5 November.

    The four suspects, from Derby and Burton, were arrested after "shocking" CCTV footage of the collision was released by Derbyshire Constabulary.

    Police launched an appeal to locate a dark coloured Audi A3, which was involved in the collision.

  7. Funding to help blind and deaf visit cinema

    A funding appeal has hit its target, meaning people with sight and hearing loss will be able to experience films at an independent cinema.

    A crowdfunding page was set up to raise £2,000 to buy 26 infrared headsets for the Phoenix Cinema in Leicester.

    These headsets will allow people to hear an audio description or amplified dialogue track as part of a regular screening.

    The cash raised will also allow the cinema to upgrade its existing 16 sets.

    "Phoenix is a great cinema and this was a fantastic cause," city mayor Sir Peter Soulsby said.

    "I’m really pleased that it’s met its funding target."

  8. Streets to stay shut amid murder probe

    Two streets in Nottingham, which are now at the centre of a murder probe, will remain closed overnight.

    Police said Peel Street and North Sherwood Street would remain shut through the night while an investigation into the circumstances of a crash earlier this morning was established.

    A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following the crash at around 10:10.

    A female pedestrian died in Peel Street, Nottingham, at around 10:10, Nottinghamshire police said.

    Two men, a pedestrian and the driver, were also injured in the collision and have been taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
