  11. Ex-cop calls for greater scrutiny of taser usage

    BBC Radio Leicester

A former Leicestershire Police officer is calling for "greater transparency" over the use of tasers.

    Police officer uses taser

The force currently has 80 officers carrying tasers and is planning to increase the number up to 150.

Nick Glynn, who spent 30 years with the force, believes as the number of officers with taser training increases, the greater the scrutiny should be.

Mr Glynn said: "As the roll out of this equipment increases, so should the scrutiny and oversight, not only inside Leicestershire Police...but also externally from independent people to have some transparency."
