    It will be a warm evening with some clouds later today although it will feel slightly muggy.

    Tomorrow will begin to feel summery again with some sunny spells but possible clouds.

    Temperatures will reach highs of 24C (75F).

    There is a risk of some heavy and thundery showers on Thursday but Friday is looking drier and warm.

  3. Search for missing rapist moves north

    The search for a convicted double rapist has moved to Leeds after a possible sighting in the city.

    Sean Perry, 46, who also uses the surnames Cawthray and Goldthorpe, was last seen at his probation-approved address in Leicester on 19 June.

    A man fitting Sean's description was spotted talking to a young woman with a child outside The Duncan pub in Duncan Street, Leeds, on Sunday afternoon.

    Police have warned members of the public not to approach him.

  6. Travel: M1 southbound closed

    The M1 southbound between junctions 19 and 20 in Leicestershire is closed following a serious accident.

    Traffic near the junction with the A14 is so bad, drivers have been spotted leaving their cars.

    Traffic is being diverted off junction 20 and towards A4303 westbound past Magna Park.

    People who need the M6 or the A14 should take the M1 northbound towards junction 19.

    Leicestershire Police warned the motorway could be shut until 22:00.

  7. Convict absconds from prison

    A convicted fraudster has failed to return to open prison.

    George John McHugh, 49, absconded from HMP Sudbury, in Derbyshire, this morning.

    McHugh from Castle Derg, County Tyrone, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court in March to two-and-a-half years for fraud and failing to surrender.

  8. World's oldest football club begins new season tonight

    The oldest football club in the world, Sheffield FC, begins its 160th season tonight with a pre-season friendly against Chesterfield.

    The two sides first met in 1872 and if you're going tonight, the match kicks off at 19:30.

  9. Victoria Park attack: Police cordon remains as investigations continue

    The area which borders onto Victoria Park in Leicester remains closed, following a serious attack.

    A woman in her 20s is fighting for her life after suffering severe injuries to her head and upper body, Leicestershire Police have said.

    Officers have cordoned off the area around the recycling bins near St Leonard's Road and the nearby pond.

    This is usually a busy access to the popular park, particularly with students heading for the University of Leicester from parts of Clarendon Park.

  10. Missing Leicester man spotted in Scotland

    A Leicester man who's been missing for four days has been spotted in Scotland.

    Mark Edwards, 37, was reported missing by his family on Friday after failing to return to his home in Hillsborough Close, Glen Parva.

    However, a "confirmed sighting" in the Glenrothes area last night has seen the police search shift to north of the border.

    Sgt Darren Richardson said: “We and Mark’s family are concerned for his welfare. He’s never been missing before and this is extremely out of character.

    “We would ask the local community in Glenrothes to contact us if they have seen Mark recently."

  11. Car was held together with dressing gown cord

    Police in Derbyshire have shared photos of a car they recently seized that had its suspension held in place with a wheel clamp and dressing gown cord.

    The force said it was one of the worst set-ups it had ever encountered.
