Fatal house fire in Rutland

A person has died following a house fire in Cottesmore, Rutland. 

The blaze, in the early hours of this morning, was attended by four fire crews. 

The crews managed to rescue the person trapped inside but they died later in hospital. 

Referee chosen for FA Cup tie

Baby death manslaughter trial begins

A 31-year-old woman accused of manslaughter shook a seven-month-old baby "repeatedly, vigorously and aggressively", a court has heard.

Chuanfang Zheng (pictured) was looking after Phoebe Guo in March 2015 at a property in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.

Phoebe suffered a "catastrophic and ultimately fatal injury" caused by "excessive force", the jury at Leicester Crown Court heard.

Ms Zheng, of Mortlock Close, Southwark, London, denies the charge.

Tigers club captain Tom Youngs has rejected claims that a player revolt led to the sacking of Richard Cockerill as the club's director of rugby on Monday.

One newspaper suggested that Cockerill had been ousted after what amounted to a player coup.  

Youngs has told BBC Radio Leicester they have a "united squad" at the club and the speculation is "a load of rubbish".

This cruciate ligament damage is the latest in a long line of injuries for Tuilagi.

He has made just 23 appearances for Tigers since the start of the 2013-14 season because of a string of injuries.  

This latest setback also means he'll miss the Six Nations and is unavailable for the British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. 

'Full refunds' for holidaymakers hit by tour operator's troubles

The CAA has sought to reassure travellers that they will be able to reclaim any money "as quickly as possible." 

Andy Cohen, head of Atol at the CAA, said: "We understand this will be concerning news for anyone who has booked to travel with the company.

"However, the Atol scheme exists for exactly this kind of situation and we are making immediate arrangements so all Atol-protected customers can claim full refunds as quickly as possible."

BreakingHoliday firm stops trading

Market Harborough-based holiday company All Leisure Group has stopped trading, leaving hundreds of holidaymakers stranded at their destinations.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will help to repatriate the 400 people who are currently abroad, but 7,000 future bookings have been cancelled.

All holidaymakers will receive refunds.

No post-mortem results for slurry death pair, inquest hears

The Health and Safety Executive previously said the accident involved slurry.

Det Sgt Anna Burton, from Leicestershire Police, told Rutland and North Leicestershire Coroner's Court, that Mr Walker was asked to clean out the tanker. 

After Mr Walker fell in, Mr Rawson came to his aid but he too fell in.

Both bodies were recovered after a hole was cut in the side of the vehicle.
