Foxes fixture affected by tonight's Arsenal v Southampton game

Calum McKenzie

BBC Local Live

Will you be watching Arsenal against Southampton in the EFL Cup tonight? Why's that I hear you ask?

Good point - but there's method in the madness.

If the Gunners beat the Saints then Leicester's trip to St Mary's will be on a Monday night, but if the Claude Puel's side win, then it'll be a Sunday lunchtime kick-off.

I'm just about able to keep up with it all...

Inquest's narrative conclusion 'was expected,' family say

Simon Ward

East Midlands Today Reporter

After the conclusion, Douglas Hurr’s son-in-law Mark Kenney said: "We are very disappointed with the verdict, but I think it’s what we expected as a family.

"Overall the treatment seemed to be very hit and miss in the way that they failed to understand his condition prior to going in, the history of mental issues and depression."

Family criticise hospital gown death inquest conclusion

Simon Ward

East Midlands Today Reporter

A coroner has given a "narrative" conclusion on the death of a man, who died with a hospital gown in his mouth, but his family are unhappy with the verdict and have said he shouldn't have died this way.

Douglas Hurr, 84, died after being admitted to the Leicester Royal Infirmary at the start of this year.

Assistant Coroner Dr Christina Swann said some documentation at the hospital was lacking, but there was not enough evidence to show neglect. She also said he received appropriate care.

Analysis: City duo 'won't be worrying about England at the moment'

Will Leicester City's Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater feature in the new Gareth Southgate era?

Vardy will need to start banging in the goals if he's to feature in the next squad - let alone the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Drinkwater's future looks more secure, especially if he continues to play his part at the Foxes.

Having said that, their minds will almost certainly be on trying to get City winning again rather than worrying about England.

Analysis: Police to investigate historic abuse over 30-year period

Jeremy Ball

Social affairs correspondent, BBC East Midlands Today

This investigation's at an early stage.

It's a spin-off from the inquiry into claims against former Leicester MP Greville Janner, who was charged with a string of child sex offences.

That was dropped when Lord Janner died last year. But some people who came forward also named other perpetrators.

So now Operation Medway's investigating those people.
