Man arrested over pavement crash

Leicestershire Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a crash on Humberstone Gate in Leicester.

It was that one where a car went onto the pavement and injured four people.

Council 'can't please everyone' with Christmas decorations

Leicester City Council has defended its Christmas lights that have been called "embarrassing" and "messy" by some of you on Facebook.

They said about 20,000 people enjoyed the switch-on event last night and claim to have had some excellent feedback.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has begun an investigation into the communication Leicestershire Police had with a man before he died.

The University Hospitals of Leicester Trust has confirmed they spent much of the last week in a "major incident" status.

The medical director Andrew Furlong said they'd seen over 700 emergency patients, which has put the health system "under strain".

Stabbed bus driver needed emergency surgery

Police said Kidd was at a bus stop in Evington Road and kept opening the engine bay cover at the back of the bus, causing the engine to cut out.

When the driver spoke to him, Kidd "lunged" with a knife, stabbing him in the abdomen.

Police said the bus driver needed emergency surgery and spent five days in hospital.
