Amy Woodfield

BBC Local Live

Joe says the club doesn't get any funding despite applying for "numerous" grants.

He says one of the problems is because there are already so many Leicestershire-based sports clubs receiving funding from the different sporting associations.

He said: "I'm not sure if it's the best idea to expect people to walk into a police station.

"There's already animosity between ethnic minority communities and police so to expect them to walk in with a knife it seems like a tick-box exercise."

Hospital says free parking is 'long overdue'

Amy Woodfield

BBC Local Live

“We appreciate that long-term stays in hospital can be a stressful time for patients and their family members. Car parking and its associated costs are a significant issue for carers, particularly if they are having to travel regularly and in some cases over quite a distance. This is long over-due and we are delighted to finally introduce this positive change to all three of our hospital sites.”

Darryn KerrDirector of Estates and Facilities at Leicester’s Hospitals

How the free parking scheme works

The free car parking won't start until the beginning of the seventh week

You'll need to visit one of the car parking offices with the patient number explaining that they are the carer of a patient who's been hospitalised for more than six weeks.

BBC

You'll then get a free pass that's only valid for one carer at a time - the free concession can be passed between carers though so you can still take it in turns.
