  5. Loss stems from 'challenging' year, Tigers chairman says

    Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom has been giving his reaction to the club's latest financial figures.

    "A Rugby World Cup year brings with it a number of challenges, none more so than in 2015/16 when this country hosted the tournament," he said.  

    "This resulted in a noticeable effect on not only the format of the club season but also the revenue streams associated with it."

  10. Man charged with murder after Leicestershire woman's death

    A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Alice Ruggles from Leicestershire.

    The man charged is Trimaan Dhillon, also known as Harry Dhillon, of Glencorse Barracks in Penicuik, Midlothian, Scotland.

    He has been remanded in custody to appear before Newcastle Crown Court tomorrow morning.

  11. Nursery closed over 'potential risks of harm to children'

    A Leicestershire nursery's registration has been suspended by the national education watchdog. 

    Ofsted says the decision, referring to Woodhouse Day Nursery in Woodhouse Eaves, has been taken due to potential risks of harm posed to children. 

    The suspension is being kept under review. Staff at the nursery have declined to comment.
