  7. HIV money being 'targeted,' council says

    Leicester City Council has defended its decision not to fund standard HIV testing in the city (see 14:04). 

    Liz Rodrigo, a public health specialist at the authority, said: "I think it is a public duty to make sure we spend our money appropriately. 

    "In this particular case we are wanting to make sure we are targeting our money at the places where there are people who are HIV positive."

  14. City 'has one of the highest rates of HIV'

    Leicester has one of the highest rates of HIV in the country, a BBC investigation has revealed.

    The city council, which is now responsible for public health, doesn't fund GP services to carry out routine testing.

    We'll hear from the authority later this afternoon about this.
