  4. Cadets will race in their soapbox

    So at the soapbox derby cadets will build a soapbox (like a cart) and race it down a hill in the hope of getting the fastest time.

    They're going to be racing against other cadets and people from Germany - it all sounds very competitive.

    Police Chief Simon Cole said: "Leicestershire Police are playing away in Europe before Leicester City - I'm quite proud of that."

  5. Car crash discovered more than three hours later

    We've had some more information from the police on this serious crash near Oadby Racecourse this morning.

    They say the emergency services were called by a member of the public at 07:15 but it's thought the crash actually happened much earlier - at about 03:40.

    The fire service reported at the time it involved only one vehicle that had gone down an embankment. A driver was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

  9. Thousands sign petition against Vaughan Centre closure

    The "Save the Vaughan Centre" petition has almost 3,000 signatures.

    Campaigners who will hand it to Jon Ashworth say he "objects strongly" to the proposal to close the centre.

    “The Vaughan Centre is an invaluable resource for the whole of the city and beyond, and we must fight to save it.”

  10. MP to receive petition from Vaughan Centre campaigners

    We've spoken a lot on Local Live about the campaign to save the Vaughan Centre in Leicester.

    Well it's back on the news agenda again today because a petition to try and stop it from closing is being handed to an MP.

    The adult education centre is part of the University of Leicester - which says it's looking into closing it because operating costs are "unsustainable".

  11. Airport expecting holiday rush

    If you thought holiday season was nearly over- you're wrong - East Midlands Airport is expecting one of its busiest weekends of the year.

    More than 90,000 passengers are expected to travel through it this bank holiday... not me though unfortunately.

  13. Thousands raised for tragic firefighter's family

    An appeal to raise money for the family of Leicestershire firefighter Paul Wilkens has already passed its £7,000 target.

    Mr Wilkens, 47, was found dead while on duty in Castle Donington earlier this week in what the service described as a "sudden and tragic loss".

    The former Leicester City captain Matt Elliott has been giving his reaction to the Champions League draw.

  16. Man bailed over cyclist death

    The police did arrest a 50-year-old man over the death of Sam Boulton.

    He's suspected of causing death by dangerous driving but has been bailed pending further enquiries.

  17. Grieving woman's message to road users

    Alia say's her fiance loved art and he'd been cycling home from a studio when he came off his bike.

    She's now calling for all road users to show more consideration for others.

  18. Fiance speaks out about death

    The memorial bike ride is being organised by Sam Boulton's fiance Alia Ahmed.

    The pair had got engaged less than two weeks before he died while on holiday in Greece.

    She's been talking about Sam to BBC Radio Leicester. She says: "He was just the most lovely man you could ever wish to meet in you life. He was full of joy, full of energy and full of love for everything he did."
