  8. Gunners 'have not completely given up hope' on Vardy

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport

Jamie Vardy’s representatives have told Arsenal he wants to focus on the European Championships.

Arsenal have triggered a release clause in Vardy’s Leicester contract and are believed to have offered him £120,000-a-week, while Leicester are thought to have made a counter offer.

    Jamie Vardy

Arsenal were expecting Vardy to give them an answer on Monday but this did not happen.

Vardy’s camp have not told Arsenal he will delay his decision until after the Euros and therefore Arsenal have not completely given up hope of him saying yes immediately.

Arsenal are not pulling out of the deal and their offer stands.

"It is disappointing that Ofsted has issued a press release which makes a sweeping generalisation about education across an entire region" Malcolm Trobe said.

"It risks damaging the morale of staff, pupils and parents."

  10. City's educational standards 'second division,' Ofsted chief warns

Sir Michael Wilshaw has used a rather nifty footballing analogy to describe the state of education in the city.

    Sir Michael Wilshaw

"Leicester, meanwhile, has enjoyed great sporting success and is home to the new champions of English football" he said.

"Yet when it comes to education, its ambitions and achievements are decidedly Second Division."

  12. Focus needed on region's schools 'underperformance'

    Calum McKenzie

    BBC Local Live

Educational standards and teaching across Leicestershire have been criticised by Ofsted's Chief Inspector Sir Michael Wilshaw.

    Sir Michael Wilshaw

Sir Michael said: "The poor quality of education in many parts of the East Midlands often passes under the radar as attention is focused on underperformance in the bigger cities of the North and West Midlands, like Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham."
