  1. Yorkshire's weather forecast: Strong winds finally easing

    BBC Weather

Very strong, gusty winds initially today, but these will gradually ease.

    WX

It'll be largely cloudy with outbreaks of rain, although these mainly across the Pennines, as bright or sunny spells gradually develop.

This evening, rain across the Pennines will die away, leaving some clear spells before cloud increases from the South and rain arrives late in the night.

  2. Key meeting over Scarborough's Futurist Theatre

The first of two key meetings this week about the landmark Futurist Theatre in Scarborough is due to take place later this morning.

    Futurist Theatre

Leading borough councillors are expected to give the go-ahead to the venue's demolition at a cost of almost £4m.

On Friday, the council's planning committee is being recommended to approve the application setting out how the building will be knocked down.

Plans to demolish the 1920s theatre have been met by angry protests with more than 100 people marching against it in January.

  3. Some disruption to Yorkshire rail journeys this morning

    BBC News Travel

Very windy weather is affecting train services in some parts of England and Wales, with some disruption expected to continue today.

At the moment, most rail services across Yorkshire appear to be running pretty much to time, but several services are running late.

Worst hit appears to be the line between Halifax and Bradford Interchange which is currently blocked due to an obstruction.

According to National Rail Enquiries, trains will be cancelled or diverted via Brighouse until about 10:00.

A limited train shuttle service will run between Bradford Interchange and Leeds for diverted services to Hebden Bridge/Manchester Victoria.

Passengers at Bradford Interchange/New Pudsey/Bramley are being advised to travel via Leeds for diverted services to Hebden Bridge/Manchester Victoria.

Passengers specifically at Bradford Interchange are advised to to use Bradford Forster Square for services to Leeds.

    BBC Local Live, Yorkshire

Hello and welcome to BBC Local Live in Yorkshire on Tuesday 17 October 2017.

We'll be with you until 18:00 with all the latest news, weather, travel and sport updates from across Yorkshire.

We received quite a few pics of the red sun yesterday, looking very much like a majestic, golden, fretted orb, to misquote Shakespeare.

    Sun

Of the many impressive BBC Weather Watcher photographs, I thought I'd start today with this one, because look closely and you see the Silhouette of an aeroplane.

Hopefully it wasn't as near to the sun as it looks!
