A dog who was so badly neglected that he was unable to walk because the fur on his leg was fused to his ear has found a loving new home.

    Trooper

Trooper, as named by his new owners, was found on the streets of Leeds in June after his fur was so matted that it had pulled off the skin around his eyes.

Staff at the Dogs Trust who took him in said that it was the "the worst case of neglect they had seen in over 30 years".

    Trooper

But this story has a happy ending, Trooper is now better, after having to be anaesthetised so the vet could shave off the matted fur all over his body.

The Lhaso Apso is now living with former soldier Allan Bottomley and his wife, Sandy, from Halifax who gave the six-year-old his new home after hearing about his plight.

The Dogs Trust says that Trooper is now enjoying life, gets several walks a day and plays in the garden of his new home.
