  5. Police search for repeat indecent exposure offender

    Do you know this man? Police in Pontefract want to speak to him after a man has indecently exposed himself several times in the town.


    Police issued this e-fit after the latest incident on 20 July a man exposed himself to a the 72-year-old woman while she was in her rear garden on North Baileygate.

    He ran off after a few seconds but this was one of several indecent exposure offences at the address believed to involve the same suspect.

  6. Leeds sign former Juventus man and loan him to Cultural Leonosa

    Leeds United have signed former Juventus defender Ouasim Bouy on a four-year deal and sent him on a season-long loan to Spanish side Cultural Leonosa.

    The 24-year-old Dutchman was released by Juve earlier this summer having failed to make a league appearances for the Italian giants.

    He has previously spent time on loan in Germany, Greece and the Netherlands.

    Leonosa were promoted to the Spanish second tier last season.

  7. Boat owner jailed over gas deaths

    The owner of a boat on which two men died from carbon monoxide poisoning has been jailed for 15 months.

    Mark Arries, 26, from Blyth, and Edward Ide, 21, from Amble, died on the boat which was moored in Whitby harbour in January 2014.

    The pair were using a gas cooker to warm the boat overnight as they slept.

    Timothy Bowman-Davies had pleaded guilty to breaching safety laws but claimed he was not aware the men were using the cooker for heating.

    Bowman-Davies, 44, of Haverford West, Pembrokeshire, had told Leeds Crown Court he was unaware of the risk of carbon monoxide on boats and did not realise he needed to have the cooker serviced.

  8. Chris Packham urges end to grouse shooting on Ilkley Moor

    Star of the BBC's Springwatch, Chris Packham, has written to the leader of Bradford Council calling on the authority to stop the annual grouse shoot on Ilkley Moor.


    In the letter the naturalist says that "Driven grouse moor management is ecologically disastrous" and that the activity "urgently needs strict reform or simply ending".

    A spokesman for Bradford Council said: "Grouse shooting on Ilkley Moor is restricted to just eight weekdays during the grouse shooting season. The current contract to allow shooting on the moor will come to an in April next year.

    They added “All representations will be taken into account before any decision is made on whether to renew the contract or not.”

  11. Joe Robinson: Terror charge ex-soldier 'faces court wait'

    An ex-British soldier held in Turkey on a terror charge while on holiday may be imprisoned for three months before the case reaches court, his lawyer said.

    Joe Robinson, 24, who lives in Leeds, was with his fiancé Mira Rojkan and her mother when they were arrested in the coastal town of Didim.

    He is thought to be under suspicion of sharing material on social media from his time in Syria with Kurdish militia.

    Lawyer Kaya Kayaoglu said: "We do not know when he will be taken to court."

  13. Police confirm driver died in accident near Knaresborough

    Police have confirmed a 54-year-old man from Harrogate has died after his car crashed into a telegraph pole near Knaresborough.

    It happened on the A6055 between Minskip and Ferrensby last night.

    He's the second person to die on North Yorkshire's roads this week.

  14. Police pay respects to 'brave' Zach the dog

    West Yorkshire Police have paid tribute to a retired police dog who starred in Britain’s Toughest Cops - but who has had to be put down.

    Retired police dog Zach was 14-years-old and had been living with his handler since December 2011 and had been in good health, but his age caught up with him.

    He began working with officers in 2004 and went on to assist firearms officers.

    His appearance on the TV show Britain’s Toughest Cops saw him subdue a suspect for an aggravated burglary.
