  1. Goodnight!

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Thanks for joining us on the live blog tonight.

It was a much improved Leeds performance but the final ten minutes were nervy for the hosts and still offer lots for them to work on.

We'll be back on Saturday, when Leeds take on Ipswich.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your week.

  2. GARRY MONK: We focus on what we can control

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

    Garry Monk

The Championship is so competitive but I tell my players to focus on what they can control and do on the pitch. My experience helps with that. Control what you can control, so they work in that way and we need to keep fighting hard. When we do that, we are competitive and know we can win games.

We have a strong mentality and two defeats in a row - maybe a little bit of doubt creeps in with young players. But the key is to get the right result, and try and build that momentum. We played with probably more pressure than we have all season and got the deserved result.

I'm just waiting on the confirmation from the club - but it's not my focus [whether he will serve a touchline ban for his push on David Wagner on derby day].

  3. GARRY MONK

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

    Garry Monk

We've been very competitive in all the games we've been in - people call it a bad path but in all the games, the players have shown their mentality, and the desire and determination to put 100% in. The players will get better in time but they are able to respond. For a lot of the players, this is their first full season in professional football, or their first full season at this level.

You can see the understanding - I think it's just the composure to pick the right things when they come into the right areas, and having the confidence to shoot. All that comes in time and I'm pleased for the team after what has been a difficult week.

  4. GARRY MONK: I am very pleased

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

    Garry Monk

I'm very pleased for the players and the response they showed. Coming on the back of two defeats brought extra pressure and an expectant atmosphere. In the first half we were creating a lot of opportunities and were on the front foot.

The players' minds probably got a little bit too protective later on because of the will to win. I kind of knew it was going to be like that. They could have had a few more but our response to two defeats was the most important thing to this group.

I think the saves were ones you would expect Green to make. We were still getting the breakaways under pressure and this young group dealt with the pressure of two defeats considerably well. I said to the fourth official that their corner came after the five minutes and even he said he didn't know why the referee hadn't blown.

  5. Noel on Sacko

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

Sacko is not the overall player, I understand that - he'd be worth £20 million otherwise. We've seen his decision-making let him down sometimes - you don't mind players taking a shot as long as they make the keeper work.

But he does amazing things on the wings. Maybe Dallas will come back into the side this weekend to bring that physicality back.

  6. What changed for Leeds?

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

There was a little bit more strength - some quickness and directness - about Leeds' play tonight.

Chris Wood was switched on tonight, as he has been all season, and they looked sharper as a team. The passing was more forward-thinking, we got bodies closer to Chris Wood and had chances. There were times we should have got the shot off quicker but Leeds did well tonight.

This was Wright's handball - what do you think, Leeds fans? Was the referee right to not award a penalty?

  9. Leeds' Man of the Match was...

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

Leeds know what it's all about. We see the good and the bad with Sacko every single game but he brings so much energy down the flanks when he links up with others. He was so influential tonight.

Hernandez is a Man of the Match contender but Rob Green would get it for me. Leeds lost a bit of discipline and structure in the final ten minutes - and Bristol got in behind the lines three times in that time. It could have been worse if it wasn't for Rob Green.

  10. Championship results

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Some big results for Leeds in the Championship tonight...

  11. What can Leeds improve on?

    Leeds 2-1 Bristol

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

Once you get into dangerous areas, you can get crowded out if you take too many touches - just get your shot off. Hernandez and Roofe were guilty of that at times but Leeds got the win today.

Leeds were guilty of letting them back in right at the end, though, and I think the word for that is concerning. Bristol City shouldn't have had some of the chances they did.

  12. BreakingFULL TIME: LEEDS UNITED 2-1 BRISTOL CITY

    All the reaction to come...

  13. BreakingGOAL: LEEDS 2-1 BRISTOL CITY - DJURIC

Rob Green denies Matty Taylor to give Bristol City a corner - Monk will probably be concerned that these chances are coming at this stage. Cotterill's ball floats into the goal following a goalline scramble. Matty Taylor claims but it might have been Djuric's header at the near post that did the job - the referee gives it but it is the last kick of the game.

  14. Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Bristol hoping for one final hurrah as they win a free kick for a foul from Vieira from a long way out. Aiden Flint's shot careers off a white shirt and skims the crossbar - a stunning strike from 6 yards that should have dipped in, but Leeds breathe once more.
