  1. Goodnight!

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

Thanks for joining us on the live blog tonight.

It wasn't a vintage showing from Leeds by any stretch of the imagination, but they ground out the win in the end - and that could be a big result come the end of the season.

We'll be back on Sunday for the big one: derby day as Leeds United take on Huddersfield Town.

Until then, enjoy the rest of your week.

    Pontus Jansson
  2. STUART DALLAS on his new competition

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Stuart Dallas

I just have to keep concentrating on my own game and working hard. It's not about me - it's about the team. They're coming into to improve the team and if they get us to where we want to, the that's the main things. We have a good group of lads and we'll welcome them.

Anything can happen in this league and there is still so much to play for. If people want to talk us up, they can do. We just concentrate on ourselves and take one game at a time.

The fans are incredible - I don't think there's a club in any of the leagues that can do that.

  3. STUART DALLAS on his goal

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Stuart Dallas

I think people questioned us on Sunday and rightly so - I think tonight we showed that we were up for it. It wasn't our best performance but I'll take that any day.

Chris Wood and me spoke about how he can pull over to take the full backs away and leave me free at the back. Then you have to keep your head down and concentrate on hitting the ball, and hope it goes in.

We have a good coach here and he's always telling us what to do when we do finishing, and how to do it better. Pontus Jansson's header was great - we've worked hard on set pieces and we're getting our reward for Pablo Hernandez's deliveries.

  4. How did Bridcutt and O'Kane do?

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

Tonight, they were OK - I think it worked better against Forest. Tonight was a bit scruffy but they bring bags of experience.

There's a nice balance about them and they're both very tenacious. The whole game was scrappy and ugly and didn't suit them tonight, but they'll get better and better.

  5. GARRY MONK on transfer activity

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Garry Monk

Those crucial moments we got right. The rest of the game was not nice for anyone to watch but you have games like that.

I'm very pleased with the two players we've got in - they have the same profile of the type of players we analyse for. They're coming into a like-minded group. Ideally, from my situation, we need to improve the planning. We don't want to be doing the business on the last day but it happens and I'm happy with the two we've brought in.

Chris Wood gets the goals, but at the end of the day, for Chris, it's about the players getting him the chances. Normally, the goal is the result of the work we do behind that. We still have a long way to go to improve and we've set our standards really high, but this group are still on their journey.

  6. GARRY MONK: We stayed strong

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Garry Monk

It was a scrappy game, quite horrible - we didn't perform at our levels but we dig in and stick in there. There will be nights like this as the season ends where we have to find a way if we're not at our best. That's what good teams with winning mentalities do. We have to be happy with the three points.

We're a squad, we're together - when we have defeats, we suffer together. Everyone was hurting on Sunday and I think the result tonight should boost everyone. Our offensive game wasn't up to the level we wanted but I have to keep going back to our character.

We know we have to play better going forwards and we will do. It was swirly tonight, our crispness with the ball wasn't there, we had mistakes and silly passes - but we stayed strong and defended our box exceptionally well.

  7. Why did Blackburn concede?

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

I think it is more of a mental thing. When you're down at the bottom of the table, you know how important every second of every game is. When it comes to tense moments like corners, a nervousness seeps in, a lack of concentration - it can just be a split second lapse, or a split second moment of increased desire from Leeds. That's what does it.

  8. What did Hernandez do well?

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

The amount of space you could find between the lines - it was an open first 45 minutes and probably would have suited Hernandez. Take nothing away from Roofe, who worked hard, but the first half wasn't vintage Leeds. It was just sloppy.

Hernandez always finds the pass and he was so important.

  9. Leeds' subs contributed

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

You want a reaction from your subs and they have all contributed in one way or another this season. Doukara offered a workmanlike performance and Hernandez the assist.

They have character and quality, this Leeds team. You can't always play pretty stuff, but having that quality of player always gives you that chance.

  10. What else went wrong for the hosts?

    Kevin Gallacher, BBC Lancashire summariser

Danny Graham needed help up there at times. Sam Gallagher can be a foil but he was out on the left tonight - he does a job, but he doesn't fit into the system. Why is he not starting up front? Why is he being pushed out of position all of a sudden? He doesn't do half, out there, of what he usually does up top.

You try and put your best players on the park and Elliot Bennett has done OK, but what did he do in the game, beyond the goal?

  11. What went wrong for Blackburn?

    Kevin Gallacher, BBC Lancashire summariser

Did Blackburn approach the game scared? They seemed to go out in the first half and be careful, suss Leeds out. Then they didn't seem to have that extra oomph of energy to take it up in the second.

Going behind is so difficult. They levelled it, and then just when they thought that would be enough - it's an individual error and a free header from Jansson that undoes them.

They're not big things to iron out, those mistakes - but they're costly.

  12. A new mentality

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

Mental toughness about a group of players is key - it's about taking chances even when you're not playing well.

It was a poor goal to concede - Jansson moved out the way and it sneaked under Rob Green. To bounce back from that takes a lot.

I think we have a different kind of man in the squad this year. Players would have crumbled in response to that in previous years, but not now.

  13. Dallas key for Leeds

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

Dallas is doing enough and has probably done enough to keep his place. His workrate when going forward, his positivity - he's been so impressive. His goal tonight was just as impressive as Doukara's now famous one.

When you see the quality in his locker, you do wonder why he's not scoring more of them. Saying that, Wood wouldn't be scoring without the assists, and they're coming from the likes of Roofe and Dallas.

But it has been refreshing to see different names on the scoresheet tonight.

  14. Immense Leeds character

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Adam Pope

    BBC West Yorkshire Sport

It's not been pretty. In fact, it's been downright ugly at times. But Leeds have clawed their way out.  The character in this squad is immense.

  15. Blackburn will be disappointed

    Kevin Gallacher, BBC Lancashire summariser

Leeds have taken two chances and three points, and that's the disappointing thing for Blackburn. You can't set your system up and then lose concentration in the final five minutes.

Coyle has looked at Leeds and set out to nullify them. Leeds were happy for a draw in the first half but the second saw the tempo upped - I mean, it had to be, as it couldn't get any slower. But ultimately, it's come down to two set pieces. That's all. Players' minds aren't lasting 90 minutes.

  16. Two different teams

    Blackburn 1-2 Leeds

    Gareth Jones

    BBC West Yorkshire Sport

The signs of two different teams there. Blackburn have been competitive but haven't taken their chances. It wasn't a vintage performance from Leeds but they took their chances.

The Blackburn players are arguing with each other, but the Leeds players are celebrating with each other, celebrating with the fans. Those vital bits of quality in a poor game were delivered by Leeds United, and that was the difference.
