  3. Rugby World Cup: Lets hope Fiji bring their singing voices for 2021

    Here's a look back at Fiji's dressing room celebrations at the Rugby World Cup back in 2013.

    Its been announced that the competition will be back in England in 2021 and 80% of the games will be played in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

    Last time around, Halifax, Leeds and Huddersfield played host to some of the best teams in the world.

    I'm sure it will be this much fun in 2021!

  6. New motorway services for Leeds

    You know that moment when you wish you'd have stopped at the last services?

    Well plans for a new service station in Leeds have been rubber-stamped.

    It will be built at junction 45 in Leeds, which is near the exit for Pontefract Lane.

    It's hoped work will start in 2018... so probably best to be "journey ready" before you leave the house for now!

  7. Big rise in sex and violent offender in West Yorkshire

    The number of registered sex and violent offenders in West Yorkshire has gone up by 43% in the last five years.

    Figures released by the Ministry of Justice show there are currently 3,309 people being monitored by a variety of law enforcement agencies across the region.

    The numbers relate to offenders managed under a system called Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements, or Mappa.

    It's designed to assess and manage the risk posed by the most serious sexual and violent offenders, and reduce the chances of them re-offending.  

    It requires the police, probation, prisons and other agencies to work together to assess the level of risk, share information and put a joint plan in place.

  9. City's transport plans 'appallingly unambitious' says Leeds MP

    A Leeds MP says the city's transport plans are not ambitious enough. 

    The MP for Leeds West, Greg Mulholland, says he's concerned hundreds of millions of pounds left over from a scrapped trolleybus project will not be spent on a new rail or tram system, but will just be used to improve existing services instead.

  10. New security measures for MPs after Jo Cox killing

    The government says a new raft of security measures have been made available to MPs following the killing of Batley and Spen's Jo Cox in June. 

    The Labour MP for Huddersfield, Barry Sheerman, raised the issue in the Commons, asking what progress had been made after the death of his former colleague.

    A quarter of Yorkshire MPs who responded to a BBC survey say they've received death threats since Mrs Cox's killing, and police have been briefing them on how to improve their security.

  11. West Yorkshire MP to have major say on Brexit

    Andrea Jenkyns MP is set to have a major say on how Britain negotiates its exit from the EU.

    The Morley & Outwood MP has been appointed to a new select committee for exiting the European Union.

    The group will regularly grill Brexit minister David Davies on how he is negotiating the Britain's terms for leaving.

    Jenkyns campaigned to leave the EU in the run-up to June's referendum.

    Other MPs on the 20-strong committee include Michael Gove and former culture secretary John Whittingdale.

  12. Leeds keeper 'delighted' with Liverpool tie

    Good to know that the man who had a huge hand in getting Leeds through to EFL Cup quarter final is geared-up for the tie against Liverpool!

    Marco Silvestri made numerous saves throughout Tuesday’s clash with Norwich, before denying three Canaries spot kicks in the penalty shootout.

  13. Go-ahead for £3.7m digital schemes funding pot in Leeds

    Plans for a funding scheme for digital and tech projects in Leeds have been given the green light

    Leeds City Council was handed a £3.7m grant from the government earlier this year to help with the development of a new Tech Hub.

  14. New signing for Bradford Bulls

    NRL back-rower Lachlan Burr has joined Bradford Bulls.

    The 24-year-old Gold Coast Titans forward joins the Bulls on a one-year deal and will link up with his former coach Rohan Smith.

    Burr worked under Smith during their time at the Titans and the former Australian Schoolboy player will add his ability to the 2017 roster.

  15. Future of Leeds' historic First White Cloth Hall under scrutiny

    Fresh moves towards bringing Leeds' historic First White Cloth Hall back to life are being made today.

    At a meeting due to be held this afternoon, councillors will discuss a plan to turn the Cloth Hall on Kirkgate into a bar and restaurant complex.

    It would mean that the structure, which was built in 1711, finally gets rebuilt. 

    The Grade II* listed building, which is on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register, forms part of Leeds City Council's scheme to restore Kirkgate, the city's oldest street.  

  16. Tribute to late MP Jo Cox at Dewsbury Hospital

    The parents and sister of the late Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox will unveil a tribute to her at a new birth centre later.

    Mrs Cox was shot and stabbed to death in Birstall in June. 

    Last December, she attended the turf-cutting ceremony at the start of construction of the new midwife-led birth centre at Dewsbury Hospital. 

    Her parents and sister will unveil a plaque at the centre's official opening this afternoon.

  17. Meet Autumn, the West Yorkshire dog with no real home

    Staff at the Dogs Trust in Leeds say they're struggling to find a new family for Autumn.

    She was found on the streets weeks before giving birth to puppies.

    Autumn has since spent an estimated 33,000 hours - that's 1,375 days - in the trust's kennels.

    Katherine Wimbles, from the Dogs Trust in Leeds, says staff are hoping someone will finally come forward to give her a home.

  18. Yorkshire beckons for Rugby League World Cup 2021

    More news on the Rugby League World Cup now.

    We know it's coming back to England in 2021, and it's been announced that 80% of the games will be played in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

    Rugby League World Cup final: Australia vs New Zealand

    The last time the competition came to England was in 2013 when games were hosted in Huddersfield, Halifax and Leeds.

    Fans at the John Smiths Stadium in Huddersfield were treated to England thrashing Ireland 42-0 in the group stages. 

    Meanwhile, Tonga and Italy went head-to-head at The Shay in Halifax and supporters at Headingley Carnegie Stadium witnessed the Kiwis carve a path to the finals, beating Scotland 4-4.

    Who knows what we can expect in 2012...
