    1. For once you might actually be doing a good thing if you eat junk food.
    2. Are Yorkshire Puddings actually made from pastry? NO OF COURSE THEY'RE FLIPPING WELL NOT!
    3. You've got to love life's eccentrics, even if they do cause a bit of a mess.
    4. They love a big sat nav at the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
    5. Hey, we found your wedding album, oh... sorry. Will you get to keep the dog?

    Cities and towns across Yorkshire all have their claims to cultural heritage. But 2017 is Hull's year. 

    All eyes are on the city today for the announcement of the programme of events for City of Culture 2017.

  3. Weather: dry tonight with plenty of sun to come tomorrow

    Tonight it'll be mostly dry with clear periods, although an isolated shower is possible later. Minimum temperature 8C (46F).


    Tomorrow we can look forward to a dry and bright day with long spells of sunshine. Maximum temperature 18C (64F).

  4. Sci-fi festival comes to Brighouse

    Calderdale libraries are boldly going where they’ve never gone before – by hosting their first-ever Science Fiction Festival. Events are running at Brighouse library and Halifax central library until Sunday (Sept 25) and include film screenings, author talks and special effects demonstrations.

  5. Man fined £1000 over dog control order

    I count this as a little victory..

    Although I have nothing to do with this bloke from Gipton, I've personally come a cropper on two separate occasions with dog eggs recently.

  6. Keighley man wanted over assault

    Have you seen Amjab Ali Azam? 

    West Yorkshire Police would like to speak to him about an assault in Keighley on 3 July.

    Officers say that he could be living in the Keighley area, that he also goes by the name of Amjad and has links to Bradford and Manchester.  

    He is not believed to pose a risk to the general public, but anyone who sees him is advised not to approach him and call police on 101.

  7. Bradford man to appeal against murder jail term

    More on the Bradford man who was jailed for 27 years for murdering a Glasgow shopkeeper and is now to appeal against the length of his sentence.

    Tanveer Ahmed,32, believes judge Lady Rae didn't follow proper legal guidelines when she decided his jail term for murdering Asad Shah in March this year.

    Ahmed stabbed 40-year-old Mr Shah outside his shop. He admitted the murder and said the victim had disrespected Islam by falsely claiming to be a prophet. 

    He claims his guilty plea merited less time in prison.

  9. Police may face investigation after death of Huddersfield man

    Three police officers could be prosecuted after the death of a man from Huddersfield who was tasered by police.

    The Independent Police Complaints Commission has referred the case of three officers to the Crown Prosecution Service following the death of Adrian McDonald in 2014. 

    The IPCC has said previously that during an incident at a flat in Newcastle-under-Lyme, a police officer discharged a taser at Mr McDonald. 

    He was arrested and taken to a police van where he became "unresponsive".

    He died at the scene.   

  10. Yorkshire reach 350

    Yorkshire's title hopes are still alive! Ryan Sidebottom clips Toby Roland-Jones off his legs to the boundary to take them past 350.

    It means the only way Somerset can be crowned champions is if they beat Notts and these two draw.

  11. Cricket: Yorkshire on a knife edge

    Down at Lords rain has stopped play in the County Championship, but Yorkshire need one more run to reach the 350 target to keep them in with a chance of winning the competition.

    The score card currently looks like this Middlesex 270 v Yorkshire 349-9.

  12. BreakingBradford man to appeal against murder jail term

    A Bradford  man who was jailed for life for murdering a Glasgow shopkeeper is to be allowed to appeal against the length of his minimum 27-year jail term. 

  13. New street drinking proposals could be brought in early in Bradford

    Bradford Council's considering bringing forward proposals to cut street drinking by a year.

    A consultation was held regarding the idea - and the orders were set to come in next October. 

    Now, a council committee is looking at bringing the new orders in next month to tackle anti-social behaviour.  

  14. Weather: Brightening throughout the afternoon

    The cloud we've had this morning will gradually break during the afternoon, with some longer spells of sunshine later. Highs of 18C (64F).  

  15. Travel update: Two vehicle crash in Bradford

    Just a bit more on that crash in the centre of Bradford on the A650 Manningham Lane.

    A woman has been taken to hospital after being freed from her car by the fire service.

    We've no word on when the road will reopen.
