    1. Wakefield's Dr Kate Granger died in the way she wanted it, and on her wedding anniversary.

    2. West Yorkshire transgender radio presenter, Stephanie Hirst, got an honoury degree from Leeds Beckett University today. 

    3. We got a sneak tour of the interior of the new Eastgate shopping centre in Leeds today. It's looking good!

    4. Some good news in Leeds if you like to hop on a bike now and then but don't want to buy one! Leeds is launching its second bike library this week.

    5. And the Yorkshire Diamonds  cricket team is one of six teams to play in the first women's T20 Super League.

  2. Man critically ill after crash in Dewsbury

    A pedestrian is in a critical condition in hospital after a car crash in Dewsbury last night.

    The incident happened at around 19:30 after the drivers of three cars; a silver Audi RS6, gunmetal grey Audi A3 and silver BMW 3 Series, were seen acting suspiciously on The Common.  

    The Audi RS6 is thought to have collided with the BMW knocking down two pedestrians.

    The second pedestrian has been left with minor leg injuries.

    An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail.

  3. What to expect from the weather tonight

    We'll have a mostly dry night with clear spells in West Yorkshire.

    A bit cloudier over the Pennines with a few spots of light drizzle possible. Winds will be mainly light westerly. Temperatures falling to 15C, 59F.

    Bradford Council is flying a German flag half mast in City Park today to remember the victims of the Munich shooting.

  5. Travel: Accident causing delays on M1 in West Yorkshire

    There are long delays on the M1 southbound this afternoon.  The problems are between junctions 41 at Carr Gate and junction 40 at Ossett.

    It's because of an accident.  

    All lanes have now been reopened but there are tailbacks to the junction 43 M621 turn-off. 

  6. Call to end the dumping of take-away coffee cups

    Wakefield Council Leader says two and a half billion paper cups end up being binned each year because they can't be recycled.  

    Councillor Peter Box heads the Local Government Association and says it results in needless millions being spent on landfill costs.

  7. Wakefield doctor died on wedding anniversary

    The husband of Wakefield doctor Kate Granger has been talking about how his wife died. Chris Pointon says his wife died in the way she wanted to and it happened on the anniversary of their marriage.

    Dr Granger was diagnosed with terminal cancer five years ago.  She used her own experineces as a patient to campaign for a more user-friendly NHS.

    She was 34 when she died on Sunday. This is her husband speaking to BBC Look North today.

    In the five years between being diagnosed with cancer and her death on Saturday,  Dr Granger helped change the face of doctor-patient relations and raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity.  

  8. Drug driver in Haworth banned

    A driver in Haworth has been banned from driving for a year after testing positive for cannabis and cocaine during a roadside "drugwipe" screening.

  9. Yorkshire cricket team to play in new women's Super League

    The first women's cricket T20 league launches this summer with six teams in it. Yorkshire is one of them.

    The Yorkshire Diamonds is one of six teams in the inaugural women’s Kia Super League, which is played in a round-robin Twenty20 (T20) competition over a 16-day period from Saturday 30 July to Sunday 14 August.

    Work started along Eastgate and on the site of the now demolished Millgarth police station in 2014. When it's finished it will include a John Lewis store, restaurants and two covered streets and is due to open this autumn.  

  11. Shots fired in Bradford

    Shots were fired from a car in Bradford in the early hours of this morning. 

    A silver Y-reg Mercedes was used in the shooting in Agar Terrace before witnesses saw it being driven away towards Girlington Road.  

    The bullets hit the door of a house but no-one was injured.

    Police later found the burnt-out car West Royd Road in Shipley.

  12. Travel: Problems on A1 in West Yorkshire

    There are delays this afternoon if you're going southbound on the A1. The problems are between the junction 41, M62 turn-off and junction 40.

  13. CCTV images released following stabbing in Leeds

    Detectives have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to following a stabbing in Leeds  

    The 23-year-old male victim received a deep wound to his chest that required surgery after he was stabbed during a fight between two groups of men outside the Electric Press building, in Great George Street, in the early hours on June 19th.

  15. Shepley family of nine banned from Kirklees tip - because their minibus is "too big"

    A family of nine were banned from Denby Dale tip after being told their family-sized vehicle was unwelcome. Parents Stephanie and Chris Rhodes from Shepley were turned away from the site due to their minibus.

  16. Leeds gets new bike library

    Leeds City Council is opening its second Bike Library this week.  

    People who live in Chapeltown will be able to jump on a bike for free when the new service is launched at the Reginald Community Centre on Wednesday. The first bike library opened at Moor Allerton Library in January this year.

    Members of the public are being asked to donate their old bikes at the council’s one stop centre on Great George Street in the city centre. The donated bikes will then be reconditioned and be made available to borrow.   

  17. Man assaulted outside Leeds train station

    A man needed hospital treatment after suffering a broken nose and damaged teeth during an assault at Leeds train station yesterday.

    The victim, who's from Brentwood in Essex, was waiting with a group of friends for a taxi at around 05:00 when he was approached by a group of men who asked if they could push in front of them to get a taxi to Preston.

    When he said "no", the victim was punched in the face by one of the men in the group. 

    British Transport Police have issued this CCTV image of a man they want to speak to who may have information about the incident.

  18. New Leeds United midfielder looks on the bright side after defeat against Peterborough

  19. Appeal for witnesses to fatal crash
