  1. Good evening

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Dallas

First win in five for Leeds United, and just their second victory against Birmingham at St Andrews in 12 attempts.

Steve Evans has also confirmed Leeds will appeal Alex Mowatt's red card, which he picked up late in the game.

You can listen to our post-match interview with Steve Evans here.

We'll be back on Saturday for the clash at Elland Road against Reading. Until then, thank you very much for joining us and enjoy the rest of your evening.

  2. More from Evans

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Evans

"It helps enormously when you have Chris Wood occupying two central defenders and he won that battle tonight," Evans said.

"I don't think any goalkeeper on the planet could have stopped Stuart's second strike. He's an honest boy who takes things to heart and he will be a big, big player for this club.

"I have a headache from Luke Murphy because when he gets a chance, he grabs it with both hands. We had a lot of big performances all over the pitch and the boys will get all the credit tonight."

  4. Evans on tonight's result

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Evans

"I think the first half performance was, in periods, the best my team have played," Steve Evans told BBC Radio Leeds.

"It's exactly how we planned it on the training ground and tonight we've had two excellent finishes from Stuart and conceded a goal from a free-kick that wasn't a free-kick.

"We had to grind and dig in in the second half but the supporters have turned up and have seen a performance they can be very proud of."

  5. More from Noel

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

Sometimes Leeds want to do too much on the ball and when you’re under pressure, you have to think about the game.

The more you play around with it, on tired legs, you gift teams chances.

We’ve done that in the past and it just needs that one leader on the pitch to give them a telling off and get them focused.

  7. Noel on Leeds' away record

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

There's less pressure away from home which I think is why Leeds do better.

You have to channel that pressure though and you should enjoy playing at home.

They need to absorb that energy. Maybe they can't deal with what's in front of them when they're at Elland Road.

  8. As it stands

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

That result keeps Leeds in 15th place on 51 points, while Birmingham stay ninth and are all but out of the play-offs. Middlesbrough go above Burnley at the top of the league thanks to a late goal against Reading.

  9. Silvestri man of the match?

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Gareth Jones

    BBC West Yorkshire Sport

I think Silvestri made some really key saves at important points in the second half.

He wasn't at fault for the goal and if Birmingham had gone on and equalised, they would have won it because they had the momentum.

They are, however, saves that you would expect my goalkeeper to save.

  11. More from Noel

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

We dominated the game and what they showed in the second half is that they can dig in and work hard.

We showed good character on both sides of the fence today.

All in all, it's a win, and that's what we were looking for.

  12. Noel on tonight's win

    Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

    Noel Whelan

    Ex-Leeds United striker

That victory was massively needed, especially on the back of Burnley where we played well.

We carried on in the first 45 minutes from the way they played at Burnley.

Stuart Dallas was exceptional tonight but Leeds do make things difficult for themselves.

  13. FULL TIME: Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

Well, late red card aside, that's a decent day at the office for Leeds.

Two belting goals from Stuart Dallas, they hung on throughout Birmingham's counter-attack and they finally have a win in the league.

  14. Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

A straight red then for Alex Mowatt, who dived in to Ryan Shotton on the touchline. Birmingham win a free-kick that Marco Silvestri punches away and Leeds do their best to get it back up the pitch.

  15. Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

Birmingham get a throw in a great area, but Charlie Taylor digs it out. It's all going nicely and then Alex Mowatt gets a red card for a horrible looking tackle.

  16. Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

Clayton Donaldson works his way to the edge of the penalty area, fires it in and Marco Silvestri lets it rebound off his body and out of play.

  17. Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

Kyle Lafferty lines it the free-kick from the edge of the box, and tips it straight over the bar, to cheers from the Leeds fans.

  18. Birmingham 1-2 Leeds

Four minutes of added time ahead, as Sol Bamba gets a caution for a clumsy tackle on Clayton Donaldson. That's a late free-kick for Birmingham in a good position...
