    The sunshine across West Yorkshire has been teasing us today, sadly it's looking like a very wet evening.

    Throughout the late afternoon, it'll continue to be windy with showers, easing for a time before cloud increases and a band of rain spreads south. A minimum temperature of 3C.

    It probably won't look as beautiful later this evening if the weather forecast's anything to go by, but Bradford's City Park absolutely did at about 18:00 last night.

    Earlier today I spoke to Huddersfield Giants legend Eorl Crabtree who told me he's still harbouring Grand Final hopes despite their current poor form.

    The Giants go into Friday's game bottom of Super League, having won just one of their nine games in 2016.

  8. Leeds actress Beverley set to return to the cobbles

    Leeds-born Coronation Street actress Beverley Callard is set to return to the ITV soap next month after revealing she had "hope" in her battle with depression.

    The soap star earlier tweeted that the medication she was taking had stopped being manufactured.

    A show source then confirmed she would be "taking time off" from her role as Liz McDonald in the long-running ITV drama.

    An ITV spokesperson said Ms Callard was set to return to work in May.

  9. Sport: Castleford Tigers Jewitt will leave at the end of the season

    Castleford Tigers prop Lee Jewitt is to leave the Super League side at the end of the season to move to Australian club Townsville Blackhawks.

    The 29-year-old joined the Tigers from French side Limoux in May 2014 and has made 24 league appearances.

    Coach Daryl Powell said: "Lee Jewitt has been a quality player for the club over the last two years.

    "Once he finishes his time here with a superb season I wish him and his family all the best in their move."

  11. Armed robbery at Co-op in West Park sparks police appeal

    A man fired a pistol containing blanks during an armed robbery at a Leeds Co-op at the weekend, police have revealed.

    The suspect, described as white, about 6ft 3ins tall, wearing dark clothing and a woolly hat, entered the store, on Butcher Hill, West Park, at about 22:30 on Saturday. 

    He approached the lone female member of staff and demanded cash before firing the gun towards the floor.  

    The police have asked anyone with further information to come forward immediately and have published a CCTV image of the suspect.

    Leeds is iconic when it comes to shopping and Hammerson, the developers of Victoria Gate, want to celebrate the city's retail heritage with an exhibition of historic images. 

    The aim of the #HistoryOfHere campaign is to tell the story of Leeds through its many changes and to recognise the city's rich history.

  14. No pane, no gain! Bradford window cleaner's 'glass' act

    Meet Graham Bower from Bradford. Tomorrow, he's attempting to break the world window-cleaning record. 

    The current record holder, Terry Burrows, cleaned three standard 45x45in office windows in 9.14 seconds and has held the record since 2009.

    But local lad Graham hopes to beat this. He'll travel across the Pennines on Thursday to try his best at the annual Cleaning Show in Manchester.

  17. Man charged over Shelf body discovery

    A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and sexual assault after a woman's body was found at a house.

    Marie Johnston, 44, was found dead at an address in Soaper Lane, Shelf, near Halifax, on Saturday, police said.

    Matthew Dean, aged 34, of Soaper Lane, Shelf, is due to appear at Calderdale Magistrates' Court later.

  19. Huddersfield Town sign Chris Lowe on three-year deal

    Huddersfield Town have confirmed the signing of German defender Chris Lowe from Bundesliga 2 club Kaiserslautern.

    The 26-year-old will join the Championship side as a free agent on a three-year deal on 1 July.

    Lowe previously worked with Terriers boss David Wagner when the pair were at Borussia Dortmund.

    "He is also a great character: a leader in the dressing room, who has captained the team," Wagner told the club website.
