  4. Sport Relief: Three legs challenge - 'Every day gets worse and worse'

    It's the end of what can only be described as the hardest day for our Sport Relief heroes, Harry Gration and Paul Hudson.

    They've completed day seven, starting in Otley this morning, walking up to Chevin top, down through Pool, Almscliff Crag and Pannal before completing their 14 miles outside Betty's in Harrogate. 

    Before the day came to a close, Harry and Paul share how they're feeling as they reach this point in their three-legged challenge for Sport Relief.

    Here are the latest headlines for Leeds and West Yorkshire:

    • Areas of West Yorkshire ravaged by the Boxing Day floods have been given a boost in today's budget. Chancellor George Osborne has confirmed the go-ahead for new flood defences in Leeds and the Calder Valley
    • A large fire at a former mill complex at Milnsbridge near Huddersfield has been brought under control
    • Look North's Harry Gration and Paul Hudson have battled through their seventh gruelling day of their Sport Relief challenge
  6. Book shop finally reopens in Hebden Bridge after Boxing Day floods

    The after-effects of the Boxing Day floods really hit our communities hard in the Calder Valley, Bradford and Leeds. 

    Businesses and residents lost homes, livelihoods and everything they owned. The Book Case in Hebden Bridge, was just one of the many businesses damaged by flood waters.

    Today, though, the sun is shining because after a wealth of support from customer, writers and publishers, The Book Case has reopened.

    Yorkshire poet and author Ian McMillan was one of those supporting the shop. He did the honours in opening the doors earlier today.

  7. Thorp Arch Bridge to close overnight for Boxing Day flood damage repairs

    The Grade 2-listed Thorp Arch Bridge, over the River Wharfe near Wetherby, is to be temporarily closed over two nights later this month, Leeds City Council has announced.

    As a result of Storm Eva last Boxing day, some repairs are required to the pier foundations and additional work will be carried out to prevent potential further damage by flood water.

    The bridge will be closed on the evenings of Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 March from 22:00 until 04:00 the following morning and a full diversion will be in place, the council says.

  8. Pair sought by police after woman knocked unconscious at taxi rank

    West Yorkshire Police have released CCTV images of a man and a woman they would like to speak to after a woman from Bingley was assaulted following a night out in Leeds.

    She was attempting to get into a taxi when she was assaulted by the unknown man and woman, the couple both then left in a taxi heading to the South Parkway area of Seacroft.

    The victim fell against a wall and was knocked unconscious, police said.   

  9. Sport Relief: Three-legged Harry and Paul meet a muddy stretch

    Imagine having to walk through this! It's hard enough with your wellies on, let alone being tied to someone. 

    Our Sport Relief heroes Harry Gration and Paul Hudson carry on like real troopers. It's been a difficult stretch today.

  10. Leeds Rhinos: 'The atmosphere here has been unreal' - Beau Falloon

    Leeds Rhinos hooker Beau Falloon is relishing making his home debut this Friday against St Helens.

    Falloon joined Rhinos from Gold Coast Titans in the off-season, but suffered a broken toe in training and has yet to make a competitive appearance.

    The Australian featured for the first time at Wigan last Friday and says the team atmosphere is fantastic.

  11. Gold car hits Leeds in search for city's mystery Lottery millionaire

    It wouldn't be most people's colour of choice, but a one-off specially designed gold Aston Martin is on the streets of Leeds today.

    It's part of a campaign to help find the city's mystery £1,000,000 Lotto Millionaire Raffle winner.

  14. Wakefield Trinity Wildcats appoint former Hull KR coach Chris Chester

    Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have named former Hull KR boss Chris Chester as their new head coach.

    The 37-year-old led the Robins to last season's Challenge Cup final, but was sacked last month.

    He replaces Australian Brian Smith, who resigned last week after winning just one of their first five games.

    The Wildcats have also announced that Batley and Wales coach John Kear will join the club as director of rugby for the 2017 season.

  15. Fire crews damping down at scene of mill fire near Huddersfield

    I'm out at the scene of a mill fire at Britannia Mills trading estate in Milnsbridge near Huddersfield which eight fire crews - about 45 firefighters - have been tackling since lunchtime.

    The latest is that thankfully no-one was injured in the fire at the site on Britannia Road, the cause of which is not yet known.

    Fire crews are expected to stay at the scene for several more hours as damping-down continues. Meanwhile, Britannia Road remains closed.

  18. Happy Valley writer 'needs time' to create third series

    Screenwriter Sally Wainwright has said she's keen to write a third series of West Yorkshire-based BBC One drama Happy Valley, but wants enough time to think of new plotlines.

    The final episode of the current series drew an average audience of 7.5 million on Tuesday.

    The BBC has yet to confirm if the show, which is filmed in Calderdale, will return - but Wainwright says she wanted "time to go away and really come up with stories".

    She would hate to make a series which "people say wasn't as good", she added.

  19. New clues revealed by police in bid to identify Ravensthorpe body

    Detectives are appealing for more information following the discovery of a body in Ravensthorpe on Monday.  

    Early indications are that the body is of a white male, aged between 30 and 50 years who will have been between 5"9" tall and 6"1" tall and of slim build. 

    He was wearing a No Fear short sleeved t-shirt and chino style shorts.
