  3. Yorkshire Rows transatlanrtic crossing nears half-way point

    Four Yorkshire women rowing across the Atlantic are approaching the half-way point in their journey. 

    Janette, Helen, Niki and Frances set off from the Canaries on 20 December. They're currently 18th in the race and have travelled more than 1,100 nautical miles. 

    They're hoping to finish in Antigua in February. Here's a reminder of their journey so far....

  4. Short film Oscar hope for Leeds writer and director

    Leeds born writer and director Jamie Donoughue has been nominated for an Oscar for his film "Shok"

    The movie is up for the Best Live Action Short Film. It's based on true events during the run-up to the Kosovo war when the country was occupied by Serbia.

    This is Jamie's first solo film, having mostly made music videos before this.

  5. Police swoop after hundreds of Ford Transit vans stolen in Yorkshire

    Police have raided two premises alleged to be involved in the disposal of hundreds of Ford Transit vans stolen in Yorkshire.

    West Yorkshire Police said specialist officers had seized a number of vehicle components at both sites near Blackburn in Lancashire and six people had been arrested.

    Almost 500 Ford Transit vans were reported stolen in West Yorkshire between January and December 2015, with an estimated value of £7.5m, accounting for 40% of all vehicles reported stolen in Yorkshire, officers said.

  6. Rob Lawrie admits bid to sneak Afghan child from Calais

    A former soldier and aid worker from Leeds has avoided jail after admitting that he tried to smuggle a four-year-old Afghan refugee into the UK.

  10. Suspended fine for Leeds man who tried to smuggle Afghan child into UK

    A former soldier from Leeds, who was caught trying to smuggle an Afghan child into the UK, has been given a suspended fine by a court in France.  

    Rob Lawrie, 49, from Guiseley, admitted to a court in Boulogne that he tried to get Bahar - known as Bru - into the UK.

    He was found guilty of a lesser charge of "endangering life" because he hid the girl in an unsafe way in a van.

    A former soldier from Leeds who tried to smuggle an Afghan girl into the UK from a Calais refugee camp, has been found guilty of "endangering life" at a French court.

    He has been given a suspended fine of 1,000 euros (about £750).

  13. Batley Mill fire: Blaze now 'under control'

    More than 50 firefighters have been tackling a mill blaze in Batley this afternoon. 

    The fire at Greenhill Mills has been going for several hours but it is now under control and the operation is being scaled back, the fire service says.

  15. Bradford in pictures: Media Museum

    A new book has been published which aims to challenge people's views of Bradford.

    We thought we'd show you a few of them during the course of the day, this is of the Media Museum.

    The idea, from freelance photographer Tom Smith, is to show people some of the great things going on in the city.

    It's called "Project Bradford" and proceeds are being donated to the Bradford Burns Unit, which was set up after the Bradford City Fire in 1985.

    Garforth-based motorsport team Ginetta have revealed their new endurance racing car at Autosport International Show in Birmingham.

    The G57 should be racing at this year's Le Mans 24-hour race.
