A bus route around Chorley has been saved after talks between the area's council and the service operator.

Chorley MP, Lindsay Hoyle with Cllr Murray.
Chorley Council

Last year, Chorley Council agreed to fund services operating to Blackburn, Chorley Hospital and Coppull after Lancashire County Council withdrew subsidies in order to make budget savings.

In January, Stagecoach announced it intended to axe the number 7 service through to Charnock Richard and Croston.

Talks have resulted in revisions [being made to] existing services to mitigate the impact of the withdrawal of the service. We’re going to fund a temporary service for one section of the route and look at what could be done to help residents on other sections.

Michelin-starred Northcote named in list of firms failing to pay minimum wage

A Michelin starred restaurant in Lancashire is one of 360 employers across the country which failed to pay either the National Minimum Wage or the National Living Wage.

Northcote Mannor

Northcote is one of 11 of businesses in the county to feature on the list, which is published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

It reports there was an underpayment of more than £6,000 to 22 workers related to reclaiming cash advances for things such as a knife buying scheme for chefs.

You can't deduct something from somebody's salary if they're on a minimum wage level. That's something we never really understood. They were only ever deducted for real reasons; a chef buying six knives and managing to adopt a 40% discount, for example. We would then deduct payment that was due to us, but that is a breech of minimum wage.

The Rising Sun in Wilpshire, is a pub that is trying to keep its traditional roots:

We don't sell food, we are a wet trade pub. We try to play pub games dominoes, cards, darts, pool, that sort of thing. We try to have live entertainment once a month, disco or karaoke.
